Given that Salone Del Milano, the annual world-famous fair in the Italian city of Milan, did not happen this year, it is more special than ever for Baxter Gallery Miami to welcome the new arrivals, hand-crafted in the northern area of Italy. The detail dedicated to each piece of the Baxter collection is beyond anything the industry has seen, and as always, executed in the brand's signature premium leather.

Elizabeth Potter, Managing Director at Baxter Miami, Ramon Alonso, Principal at RADYCA Architecture Studio & SuperYacht Design, and Luciana Fragali, CEO of D/S Design Solutions Interior Design Studio, were hosted by Haute Living's Seth Semilof. The dialogue included talk of Baxter's magnificent designs and how the designers have implemented these use in their past and current projects. It also featured their insight on how they, the brand, and the design industry as a whole went through the quarantine months.

Elizabeth Potter: "On our side, we depend on our clients, and so much of our business does come from the trade community. So when I hear how focused they are, and I know how much they've been working, they make my life so much easier as well because that is my pipeline of projects and work... As a manufacturer, as well as a dealer, we are seeing quick movement from Italy. There's clearly a slowdown in different parts of the world, and yet the lead times on Baxter, the production of our product and our factory is moving flawlessly, so that's very encouraging and very interesting to see. I do believe that this particular part of the US market in South Florida and Florida (as a whole) is going to surpass all the other markets in the US right now."

Ramon Alonso: "I think that the reconfiguration of offices, and how they will be used, is going to be different. We have to understand all these new ways of working on new tendencies, and there will certainly be many opportunities for new creations... There is something about Baxter that makes it over the top. The scale of their designs, the textures, it's just very unique that you cannot find it anywhere... (Speaking about a Baxter sofa at a client's home) I understood the level of quality that we're talking about here, which is that it surpasses anything else that I have used. And we use very, very high end manufacturers."

Luciana Fragali: "During the quarantine, I started doing videos, something that I never did before. I'm not very good at showing off, but I realized that it's great to communicate with your public and tell them what you do know, and give them advice. Just to share your knowledge with people that are interested in getting to know you... My career is divided as before and after Baxter. Sitting on a Baxter sofa for the first time, for me, it wasn't just gorgeous, but it was the most comfortable piece of furniture I have ever experienced in my life. Not only use the sofa but the coffee tables, prints, and everything is so creative, so unique and sophisticated."

“Baxter Miami is operating and open for business remotely,” says Elizabeth Potter, Director of the flagship showroom in Miami. “We remain 100% dedicated to current projects and all our customers, with our design team supporting clients from their home offices. Engagement may have slightly changed but our creative output has not. Thankfully, the Baxter headquarters in Lombardy have also remained safe and well; we expect Italy and our factory to be operational in the not too distant future.”

The northern area of Italy, where the furniture industry is heavily centered, was the first Italian zone heavily hit when the crisis began. Furniture factories have been forced to shut down since March, with administration teams working smart from home like their counterparts in the USA. The Italian government is looking at May 4th as a planned date to start up factory operations.

Salone del Mobile Milano, the world’s largest trade furniture fair that takes place in the Italian city every April, was unfortunately canceled this year. However, a ray of light may be at the end of the tunnel for those seeking to experience Baxter collection before 2021. “We can still dream and find a way to experience quintessential Baxter in both Miami and Milan,” says Potter with a hint of mystery.

Stockholm-based furniture company Massproductions knows simplicity is key to functionality and creative modern design. This company is looking beyond the usual to bring you a beautiful new furniture line.

The Mega Sofa Collection draws inspiration from…yes, we’re saying it…bread! Massproductions loved the look of risen bread and its soft, malleable surface, and they’ve translated those features to brilliantly crafted sofas.

The minimalist, neutral designs are defined by metal wires and plush cushions. Couches are available in a day bed form as well as two-seater and three-seater versions.

The Baloon armchair from the Armani Casa line. Although Armani’s name is more widely known in the world of haute couture, his home-décor line Armani Casa is equally as stylish. The minimalist and ultra-luxurious company was founded just over a decade ago, and has since brought the sophisticated Armani aesthetic to the design world.

The tubular Baloon armchair is a stunning highlight piece that draws inspiration from the style of the 30s. Part of the pouff Baloon collection that was initially designed and created by Roppongi Hill in Tokyo to furnish the interior of the GA boutique, this armchair has a powerful, formal style. The Baloon is made in Italy, giving it that unique, luxury touch.

This piece features fixed covers, black nickel feet and a black matt lacquered recessed base. It will be available in the new range of Dubois bi-elastic fabrics and in the two black and beige bielastic fabrics that were introduced at the 2009 Salone. The dimensions are 87x90x60h cm. – 34,3×35,4×23,6h inch.
