With nearly half of the homes at the boutique, 27-unit 287 East Houston Street sold out and residents expected to move in this summer, the nearly 2,000-square-foot, 3-bedroom penthouse offers a rare opportunity of pampered lifestyle in Lower East Side.

Developed by Vinci Partners US Real Estate and Hogg Holdings, the three-story marvel epitomizes the concept of Spatialism, an artistic approach pioneered by turn-of-the-century artist Lucio Fontana.

“We used Fontana’s concept that an energetic force is required to create a dynamic sense of space as a springboard in designing this unique triplex Penthouse home with the stair as the backbone,” said Jose Antonio Grabowsky, Head of Real Estate Investments at Vinci Partners USA, and Shelley O’Keefe, Senior Development Advisor at Corcoran Group Marketing, in a joint statement. “An important consideration was also to create a Penthouse within reach, so to speak, in relation to the adjacent neighborhoods where penthouses typically trade well north of $10 million.”

With ceilings soaring some 10 feet, Penthouse B stands its own, lavish grounds, unfolding around a dramatic windowed staircase and comprising an all-bedroom level under an entertainment-friendly, private outdoor terrace (styled with an outdoor kitchen). Each room affords panoramic views of some of New York’s most cherished landmarks.

“We felt southern light and views of One World Trade Center were perfect for the eat-in kitchen, while the living room and private rooftop terrace should claim the entire Midtown Skyline from East River to Hudson Yards—views that a Penthouse owner should expect,” said Grabowsky and O’Keefe.

While looking out the residence’s Italian floor-to-ceiling windows is a feat of sights, looking in is equally rewarding with a carefully curated interior. The Miele-equipped kitchen, for instance, boasts Italian cabinetry by Alta, honed Carrara marble countertops and backsplash as well as a 34-bottle wine refrigerator.

Andres Hogg, principal of Hogg Holdings, called Penthouse B a “triplex jewel box” and there is no better description for the crown residence at 287/LES, which captures the building’s vibrancy and the neighborhood’s own rhythm without exaggerating either.
