Hugh Grant, the quintessential English actor who rose to stardom in romantic comedies, is officially bidding farewell to his, “Love Actually” days. In 2002, the actor lived in a plush South Kensington penthouse suite at Petersham House. This was his residence while he filmed the iconic festive rom-com “Love Actually” as the Prime Minister and love interest to Martine McCutcheon’s Natalie character. However, a year later, Grant already decided to part ways with the posh property as it was reportedly too ostentatious for the notoriously publicity-shy actor. The residence then sold for a $4.8 million, which was slightly more than what he purchased it for, and in 2019 with its new owner, was listed once again. The price presented was a whopping $13.8 million but as the steep asking price failed to attract potential buyers, the home was taken off the market. Now, the London penthouse is for sale once more after a $2.8 million deduction for a total asking price of $11 million.

Located on the seventh floor of Petersham House on Harrington Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Grant’s former residence spans over 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms. The open floor plan presents a grand foyer leading into an expansive living room and dining area. The home’s interior evokes opulent and airy feel with its dazzling chandeliers and wrap-around glass windows for panoramic views of London. The expansive primary suite features an ensuite bath and spacious dressing room. Additionally, the space boasts two large guest bedrooms. Luxe amenities include a rooftop hot tub, private gym, and direct elevator access leading to the reception room. Stepping outside, the exterior space features two main terraces extending over 1,500 square feet. The west-facing terrace showcases Alpine-inspired wooden decking and carefully selected, artfully curated plants.

English pop icon Harry Styles and American actress Olivia Wilde have been romantically linked since January when they were spotted attending a wedding hand in hand. Styles is set to star in “Don’t Worry Darling,” a psychological thriller film directed by Wilde. The celebrity couple have sparked much public discourse yet appear to be happily in love. Over the course of their relationship, the 27-year-old musician and the 37-year-old movie star have lived in the Hollywood Hills home of Styles’ longtime manager, Jeff Azoff, before their voyage to London. The love nest is meant to serve as a temporary home as Wilde films her role in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming film “Babylon” alongside Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. The celebrity couple’s newfound abode was sold in 2019 for $3.3 million to Spanish songstress Lourdes Hernández and husband Zach Leigh who completely reconstructed and renovated the home into a modern, chic space. Now, the property is reportedly being rented by Styles and Wilde at $13,600 a month.

Built in 1981, the contemporary Los Feliz residence spans nearly 4,000 square feet and features five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Entering the gated property, the single-story home opens to a foyer with a gracious grand piano. The interior layout presents two living areas: one that is cozy and comfortable, and the formal space with built-in bookcases. The renovated Scandinavian style kitchen offers a spacious center island and breakfast nook. The décor encompasses an industrial chic aesthetic with neutral tones, pale hardwood flooring, metal light fixtures, and a contrasting array of windows to offer warmth.

The interview was hosted by Haute Living's Seth Semilof. Parker began his remarks by giving praises to the medical community and first responders that have been hard at work.

On the interaction with banks, while those are working on the Small Business Administration rollouts, he said "I've spoken with a number of banks. Lenders have reached out to me. The rates being as low as they are, I feel confident we will see a strong financial market. Unlike the last recession, lenders are much more cautious about lending. The banks are in the business of providing financing, and they will get back to that."

"Think of this like any slow period," he said about advice he and his leadership team give to their agents. "In our business, it's not uncommon for an agent to have no business. It's important we focus on goals. Make a plan for when this passes. Work on your database. Distinguish new and old clients. Request reviews from clients. Make five calls, send five emails, five thank-you notes, five text messages every day. Communicate with your clients. See how they and their families are feeling. If possible, spend time with your family. Take an online course you did not have time to before. And connect with agents in other markets."

"This is going to be a time that presents a lot of pent-up demand," he said about the post-quarantine market. "We launched a project in West Palm Beach last month. Things are going to be delayed, but we are working on pre-development."

He also answered questions submitted by viewers during the live broadcast. On a question about relocations to South Florida from other major markets, submitted by One Thousand Museum developer Louis Birdman, Parker said, "We saw a surge of interest in rentals at the beginning (of quarantine times). Now, those people that were borderline retirement are saying, 'Let's do it now'. We will see more people moving from California and New York moving here full-time. I think that New York, one of the strongest and most important cities in the world, will bounce back out of this pandemic." Parker took the opportunity to congratulate Birdman on the recent purchase of a One Thousand Museum penthouse by David Beckham.

He prepared and served dishes including Fresh Salmon Confit with Garden Herb Salad (the appetizer at Prince William’s wedding), 10-Hour Slow Roasted Pork Belly (the main course at Prince Harry’s wedding), and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Clotted Cream (a favorite of Her Majesty The Queen). Early reports suggested the couple would reside at the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage, the "Nott Cott" as it's affectionately known. However, the Duke and Duchess are looking for something a little roomier. Meghan probably wasn't too keen on living in the cottage Harry had used as his bachelor pad for a number of years.

It now appears that Harry and Meghan will begin their married life as next door neighbors to William and Kate – in the 21-room Apartment 1 of Kensington Palace.

The rooms at Kensington still retain many of the Georgian architecture and interior design installed by royal artist and architect William Kent who was commissioned by King George I to paint portraits and decorations on the royal staircase and ceilings, among other ornate details added to fireplaces, molding, floors, and doors.

The apartment Harry and Meghan are moving into was the former home of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and has since undergone a swift renovation to fit the style of Britain's newest royal couple. Harry "seems in a real hurry to move in with Meghan," someone familiar with the Prince's frequent trips to inspect the building's progress said.

The need for more space might reflect Meghan's desire to start a family. Friends say she has been encouraging Harry to stop smoking and cut back on alcohol consumption to keep himself in top shape for future Fatherhood.

Meghan will have some lifestyle adjustments to make as well. The Queen has appointed a personal coach to spend the next six months with the Duchess of Sussex to give her lessons in proper dress, behavior, and royal etiquette.

Living in storied Kensington Palace will be new to Meghan, but full of boyhood memories for Harry. He grew up in a different wing of the palace with brother William. A beautiful portrait of their Mom, Princes Diana hangs on a wall in one of the rooms.

Hopefully, Harry won't scare his new bride with stories of all the late royal ghosts who are said to haunt the grounds. The spirit of King George I has reportedly been seen walking down the King's Gallery at night.

The Clooney's prefer silver-framed family portraits and reminders of their past to priceless works of art.

A vaulted grand entry hall with Georgian molding leads to a more lived-in house with reminders of who the Clooneys are and where they came from.

There is a large painting of a giraffe (Amal's favorite). It was during a giraffe encounter on a safari trip that George Clooney watched one of the graceful animals walk right up to Amal. The manner in which the giraffe singled her out of the group as a trustworthy soul, sparked something in George and he knew at that moment that he wanted to ask her to marry him.

George's favorite painting is of his former beloved cocker spaniel, Einstein, styled as a Physics professor. This is not the type of art that commands million-dollar insurance policies – but it demonstrates the sense of humor and magnetic warmth the couple share.

The Clooney's Designed Their House Around What They Like to Do

Rooms in the Clooney home are functional. There is a formal sitting room for professional meetings and a cozier library for conversing with family and friends. Two children's high-chairs hang from the ceiling for easy access in the kitchen. The twins, Ella and Alexander, whom Amal gave birth to last year in June, are a presence of lively joy in the stately home.

The adjacent glassed-in pool house has been dubbed "party central" and includes monogrammed bathrobes for the hosts and an old-fashioned photo booth for capturing candids of family and friends. Though Amal and George both keep extra office space upstairs, the pool house is mostly remembered for the 3am portraits of the famous guests whose revelry is captured and tacked to the wall. A 12-seat home theatre attached to the pool house is where George watches and edits films. It's stocked with the couple's favorite candy and a cinema-style popcorn machine. Amal is also collaborating with a colleague on a law book and often finds the pool house a preferable place to pore over notes.

As a gift to her man, Amal had a wooden cabin built on the banks of the river. It's an idyllic reminder of Clooney's Kentucky roots. The hangout spot features a large porch with facing swings and a rowboat kept ready for lazy paddles up the river. The cabin is the perfect place to sip a glass of Casamigos tequila (the beverage company Clooney founded with two friends that they recently sold for a billion dollars).

Fitness is another focus of the couple and their property. There is a full gym in the main house and an astroturf tennis court hidden behind a cluster of tall trees. The Clooney's had many mature trees planted around the property for increased privacy.

Walking paths through the manicured gardens provide peaceful views of the river and an abundance of shaded spots beg for a slow stroll to seek tranquility.

George and Amal Clooney Support the Local Community

When renovations to the home and grounds caused months of noise and street disturbances – the Clooney's made amends with the neighborhood by putting their next door neighbors up in a luxury hotel for a month and having the road that was damaged by construction vehicles re-paved.

George and Amal also hire staff from the nearby restaurants to serve at their home dinner parties, and the couple will regularly turn up for a pint at the neighborhood pub, The Bull Inn. When travel obligations slow down, they even try to catch a show at the Thames-side dinner theatre where George delivers pep talks to the thrilled local actors.

The tucked-away island known as Sonning on the Thames was described by novelist Jerome K. Jerome as “the most fairy-like little nook on the whole river.” When standing on Sonning Bridge, looking across the river at the little lights that dot the manicured gardens of the Clooney grounds at night, you might imagine mythical beings could live there. It definitely suits the real-life fairy-tale of George Clooney and his love Amal Amaludin.

Kensington and Chelsea

This area has long had a reputation for luxury and swank. It's known to hide some of the most outrageous basement bunkers complete with underground swimming pools and million dollar man caves. Townhouses here are flush with state-of-the-art fixtures and fancy roof gardens that compliment the charming Georgian architecture.

British rap sensation Stormzy keeps a flat in Chelsea near rock legend Eric Clapton, while fashion designer Paul Smith's Kensington mansion is worth $135 million. Rowan Atkinson and Madonna also bought homes here.

The building has gone though a tumultuous fight to get to this near-completed stage. After rigorous zoning battles, scaling down its initial lofty goals in height, and tenant issues, the building is in the right shape now to be one of the best new additions to the city’s architecture. The mixed-use building will serve as luxury residences for Londoners, though the Dubai-based Jumeirah hotel recently signed a lease to be one of the anchoring tenants of the tower.

The building has also undergone a good deal of criticism on social media, after its first advertising video blew up in owner St. George’s face for being sexist and nearly pornographic in style. Supported by Shiva Ltd. and the Architecture Foundation, the competition is based in the tiny houses trend, and applying it to practical uses to find a way to add beauty to them by rethinking how we live in cities. They were also encouraged to base their designs in sustainability and using recycled materials. Each design is meant to be built in a 430 square foot area, and be easy to assemble and disassemble.

PUP Architects and engineers from AKTii, along with several builders and volunteers, created this year’s winning design. The structure is built to replicate an HVAC air duct. In London, it is legal to install mechanical rooftop equipment like these air ducts without getting approval from building permits. The design is meant to call into question this principle, suggesting that these types of structures are plausible to build across the city. The design was selected from over 128 proposals, and will remain on display in London for two years as an installation.

“While permitted development exists for large scale infrastructural roof installations, little challenge has been made for other viable and productive uses for rooftops,’ PUP architects told DesignBoom. “By subverting the form of the permitted and giving it a non-standard use, we hope to bring into question this order of priorities. We envisage this pavilion as a prototype for the guerilla habitation of London’s roofspace producing a landscape of rooftop structures akin to New York’s famous water towers.”

In an era not only where things are becoming more cramped, but that “tiny living” has evolved to not excluding luxe living, the architects, builders, and designers working on these models today could become the next big trend to sweep though densely populated American cities, giving residents an artistic boost and possible rent relief.

Sky Pool will be a 90-foot-long, aquarium-styled spectacle protected by eight-inch-thick glass.

Sky Pool will serve as Embassy Gardens’ main attraction of the Nine Elms neighborhood in Southwest London’s Battersea riverside district—currently undergoing extensive upgrades to attract affluent residents, particularly from Asia. Embassy Gardens construction begins this year with a scheduled 2018 move-in date for wealthy thrill seekers. Apartments will start at nearly $950,000 with penthouses costing more.

High-end aquarium designers will construct the transparent, glass-bottomed pool which will measure 90 feet long by 19 feet wide and approximately 10 feet deep (water depth is only four feet deep)—encased in a sturdy eight-inch-thick glass. Residents can traverse the pool to swim to the complex’s rooftop bar, decks, spa, and even an orangery. For residents who want to go the dry route, an adjacent alternative bridge walkway is available.

“The experience of the pool will be truly unique,” said Sean Mulryan, CEO of developer Ballymore Group which is building the development with partner EcoWorld. “It will feel like floating through the air in central London.”

Sky Pool will be a tourist attraction once Embassy Gardens is completed in 2018.

Embassy Gardens is part of the Nine Elms neighborhood in Southwest London’s Battersea riverside district, which is undergoing an extensive facelift to attract affluent residents.

Sky Pool sounds like it will transform residents into Superman…or perhaps Aquaman. The “blue azure” pool is a spectacle—flanked by the luxurious green-glazed bricks of the flats, environmental gardens, solar panels, and lush landscaping—and views of the River Thames, Westminster Palace and the London Eye. Surely London tourists will flock to see it as it makes its way into tour guide books. And for those with extreme hydrophobia (fear of water), acrophobia (fear of heights), or aeroacrophobia (fear of high, open spaces), Embassy Gardens still has a bar.

The new Foster & Partners high-rise in the Islington district is on track to become London’s most cycle-centric residential building, with 1,486 bicycle parking spaces (one-and-a-half for each of the 930 apartments). Just as every resident gets their own apartment key and mailbox, they will also get a dedicated bike storage unit in the basement level. One quarter of the spaces will be provided in stackable storage racks. It's the first phase of London's new bike culture.

As for car parking spots, only 200 carbon dioxide-polluters get those. The message is as crystal clear as the surrounding air—motorless two-wheelers are preferred here. Giving new meaning to “riding the elevator,” these twin skyscrapers even feature special bike lifts and a bike maintenance workshop for residents in the basement of both towers—which beats getting scammed by unscrupulous car mechanics.

The towers, 46 and 32 stories respectively, occupy the site of an 1980s business park. The development will also showcase restaurants, cafes, retailers, three floors of office space and a 190-bedroom hotel, according to deZeen magazine. It reports that developer Berkeley recruited Foster & Partners after “buying the site and inheriting a previous design that it felt was not of high enough architectural merit.” Foster & Partners was up for the challenge.

The 130,600-square-meter project only has 200 parking spaces for cars.

The Foster & Partners’ twin towers design exceeds Transport for London’s new guidelines for high quality, bike-friendly infrastructure which are designed to transform London into a “[cycle-ized] city.” Under the guidelines, the 130,600-square-meter project would be expected to provide 1,223 spaces, according to deZeen, but Islington Council's planners insisted on even higher provision. The surrounding cluster of towers will feature similar bike-centric designs for parking and storage.

The city’s new guidelines are a proposed initiative of Mayor Boris Johnson to make London’s streets safer, healthier and to encourage more people to ride bikes (similar to what New York City accomplished under former Mayor Mike Bloomberg). Johnson has approved plans to create Europe’s longest segregated cycle lane through the city.

deZeen magazine quoted Peter Murray, member of the London Mayor's Design Advisory Group, "It represents a big shift in London. All new developments have to meet the [cycle provision] requirements, but since this is a tall and dense project the impact and scale is impressive."

Foster & Partner’s reputation for cycle culture and low carbon transportation is well established (21% of its employees bike to work while another 20% walk to work). In 2014, principal Norman Foster proposed (along with collaborators Exterior Architecture and Space Syntax) “SkyCycle,” his ambitious concept design for elevated cycle paths above London’s railways, which according to deZeen, “aimed to create a 220-kilometer cycling utopia” of dedicated lanes.

For just £15,000 (about $25,000) a month, that fantasy can become a reality.

Transformed for an undisclosed client by architectural firm DA Studios in partnership with Ab Rogers—head of interior design at the Royal College of Art—this one-of-a-kind, four-story "Rainbow House" in London's Notting Hill features a rather odd amenity: a sinewing slide leading from its master suite (which features a bed that can rotate 360 degrees), to its bright, lemon-flavored living room.

Additionally, the über-artistic rental showcases floors adorned with painted illustrations that seem to have been scraped off the pages of a colorful comic book, conceptualized by flooring specialist Richard Woods.

As if all that color wasn't enough, there's also a glassy, rainbow spiral staircase that cuts through the center of the playful residence:

Rogers describes the fantastical home as "a magical and liberating space that defies the norms of a domestic interior environment and allows the occupants to leave the outside world far behind." 

Positively brilliant, or downright tacky? Either way, the four-bedroom pad packs a pretty piquant (and pricey) punch with its unique, eye-popping aesthetic.

One Tower Bridge has recently announced its partnership with Alegna, a Swiss design firm that specializes in crafting dream bathrooms... out of wood. The luxury development has charged the innovative company with outfitting 36 luxe apartments and three penthouse duplex apartments located in the Tower's Cambridge House with their posh vessels, which come with complementary fitted wall and ceiling elements and cost about €14,000 (roughly $19,000) a pop.

Now before you scoff at the idea of combining water with a notoriously permeable and erodible material, chew on this: Alegna uses an intricate technique to render them utterly water resistant. Real wood veneers are compressed together under high pressure, then soaked in a synthetic resin, a special varnish meant to prevent the wood from absorbing any liquid and deteriorating due to water damage.

The treatment—which Alegna claims has been tested under the harshest conditions—makes the bathtubs super durable and easy to maintain. According to the company, small scratches that may appear after years of use can easily be polished away by hand.

A new £370 million "village" in the center of Islington yards in London will soon house hundreds of luxury apartments. The 500,000-square-foot "Islington Square" will take the place of the former North London Royal Mail Center building on Upper Street, and will offer studios starting from £550,000, and penthouses priced at around £3.5 million.

Aside from 356 private flats, the 4.5-acre Sagers Group development will include shops, restaurants, offices, a health club and a cinema.

According to Giris Rabinovitch, the chief executive of the Group, "This transaction marks a major milestone in the development of Islington Square which will become a landmark retail and leisure destination and a welcome addition to this thriving area of London."

The colossal edifice, which will stand at the site of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown's famous "Granita Pact"—a 1994 agreement made over the future leadership of the Labour party—is one of the largest luxury developments in the area.

The unfurnished penthouse apartment, located at One Hyde Park, spans a palatial 16,000 square feet. Sources say an Eastern European buyer purchased the apartment, which could be worth up to an estimated $300 million once furnished.

The previous record for an apartment sale in London was set three years ago by Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhemtov, who dropped around $230 million for two units at the same address, eventually combining them into one property.

One Hyde Park, whose developer is a joint venture between CPC Group and Waterknights, has seen more than $2 billion in sales so far.

Nick Candy, whose firm, Candy & Candy, was tasked with interior design and development management on the One Hyde Park project, said London’s real estate market is currently “in boom-time prices, more expensive than we've ever been in the history of mankind.”

The Piet side table from Portuguese-born, London-based designer Hugo Passos is our design Haute Covet. The tables were inspired by the monochromatic works of Dutch contemporary artist Piet Mondrian.

The table features an asymmetrical leg structure made from solid walnut which breaks up the brightly colored matte lacquer table top. The table, which is available in yellow, red, blue, black and white, retails for approximately €230 EUR (approximately $300 US).

The Piet side table was featured in the Stepney Green Design Collection curated by architecture magazine Dezeen. According to their website, "Dezeen has been commissioned to curate a collection of products designed by east London creatives that live near to new housing development VIVO and the designs will be on show as part of a collection of 30 works of art, fashion, sculpture and furniture celebrating local talent that will be exhibited at the Genesis Cinema in October and then donated to the VIVO residents."

In an interview with Dezeen, Woodroffe said; “Since the invention of the city centre apartment, we’ve never really re-invented it. YO! Home is that new invention. Twelve moving parts drawing on the mechanics of stage scenery allow the transformation of an eighty square metre space, the size of a one bedroom apartment, into a much bigger home."

Though it may seem impossible that so many rooms and their accompanying accoutrements could fit into such a reduced square footage, the key to this concept is maximization of the functionality of space and the utilization of hidden compartments. For instance: the breakfast counter slides out from the walls of the kitchen, the dining table folds up from the floor, rooms are created using sliding partitions,  and the master bedroom is lowered over the sunken seating area in the living room.
