Aston Martin Residences Miami, a work of architectural art that is currently under construction in Downtown Miami, will feature a permanent art gallery on its 52nd floor. The sail-shaped tower's Art Gallery will embrace a love of beauty and an appreciation of art in all forms, which the developer G&G Business Development and iconic carmaker Aston Martin share in common.

We’ll present works from established artists and emerging talents that make our hearts beat faster, and we hope the Art Gallery will inspire residents in their daily lives."

Blues guitarist Muddy Waters played it best. The Rolling Stones rocked it the loudest. But Bob Dylan sang it best, with his legendary “Like a Rolling Stone” lyrics:

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Jane Wenner isn’t completely unknown but for decades she lived in the shadow of her famous ex-husband—Rolling Stone magazine co-founder Jann Wenner. And today, she is hardly without a home, but she is prepared to unload her Upper West Side townhouse for $17.95 million in favor of a Greenwich Village cottage she’s reportedly renovating.

Dylan’s words aren’t exactly prophetic but when you’re a music legend, imperfect foreshadowing (like his pitch) is forgiven in the presence of lyrical genius. Through Dylan, Waters and The Rolling Stones, Jann Wenner and Jane Wenner recognized the powerful influence of music in turbulent 1960s San Francisco when they borrowed $1,500 from family to launch Rolling Stone as a counterculture publication with music at its core. Nearly 50 years later, Rolling Stone rocks on and its success planted music-loving seeds for two generations while bearing fruit for its owners—prominence in the publishing industry and access to luxurious multi-million-dollar homes.

Jane Wenner’s Upper West Side residence is a traditional 20-foot-wide, five-story Victorian brownstone at 37 West 70th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West, a storied block that was once home to prominent financiers Bernard Baruch, Samuel Goldman and Marcus Sachs. The townhouse boasts seven bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and a rear garden. Built in 1891 by architect Gilbert Schellenger, the Wenners purchased the townhouse in 1987 from the estate of fashion designer Perry Ellis—who meticulously restored original mahogany, cherry and oak details, and added floor-to-ceiling French casement windows as well as Art Deco bathrooms from London’s original Savoy Hotel.

Mark Thomas Amadel and Roberta Golubock of Sotheby’s International Realty have the listing. It was previously listed with Brown Harris Stevens in May 2013.

The townhouse features a garden entry that leads to a center hall and a spacious bedroom/office with a full bathroom and a powder room as well as an eat-in chef kitchen with fireplace, center island, walk-in pantry, six-burner professional Garland range, oak millwork, aged white Carrera marble countertops and an elevette/dumbwaiter. A breakfast room offers ample lighting, garden vistas and floor-to-ceiling French doors, mere steps from the sunny garden whose exterior is embellished by ivy, wrought iron gates and a three-story brick wall extension with arched cornices. This renovated extension added living space, character and impressive views overlooking the garden.

The term "Rolling Stone" has become an increasingly consequential iconic term thanks to legendary guitarist Waters' 1950 blues song, "Rollin' Stone," followed by the formation of the Mick Jagger-Keith Richards-led The Rolling Stones rock band in 1962, Dylan's historic "Like a Rolling Stone" anthem in 1965--and subsequently due to Rolling Stone magazine's decades-long influence. Rolling Stone (whose magazine moniker was inspired by these three great musical acts) started as a music magazine in 1967 but it has evolved into a bi-weekly popular culture magazine today. Its reputation was cemented with famous and infamous cover images (John Lennon's naked photo with wife Yoko Ono and the controversial Boston marathon terrorist cover respectively) and cutting-edge "gonzo journalism" from emerging writers such as Hunter S. Thompson, Cameron Crow, Lester Bangs, Peter Travers and Matt Taibbi.

Co-founders Jane and Jann Wenner (still publisher and editor of Rolling Stone) raised their three children at 37 West 70th Street, formerly known as The Perry Ellis House, until they separated in 1995. During a relatively amicable split (including assets), Jann Wenner (who also owns Men’s Journal and Us magazines) sold his $4 million-plus stake of the townhouse to his estranged wife in 2010, a year before the couple officially divorced. Since their separation, Jane continued raising the kids solo.

How does it feel…to be on your own...and raising three kids alone...in an Upper West Side brownstone? To Jane Wenner, it likely feels luxurious but like a rolling stone, she’s finally finally headed downhill—rather downtown to Greenwich Village. It makes sense. What is more counter culture than The Village?

As the official home to Seinfeld, Zabars, Strawberry Fields, the American Museum of Natural History, Central and Riverside parks, Lincoln Center, and endless restaurants and bars—Manhattan’s Upper West Side is culturally well-fed. But the popular, populated neighborhood is still starving for residential living space. One might have better luck hailing a taxi during a rush hour deluge than locating new residential construction here.

A duplex residence at 210 West 77th Street will cost up to $21 million.

Enter developer Miki Naftali and Danish architect Thomas Juul-Hansen, whose 210 West 77th Street project will nourish the Upper West Side community with 18-stories of luxury apartments, slated for occupancy in early 2016. West-siders who are already salivating better prepare to pony up some dough, as apartment prices will reportedly range from $4.85 million to over $21 million.

Inspired by Danish modernism, the 210 West 77th Street building resembles an edifice you’d bicycle past in Copenhagen rather than New York City (and that’s a good thing). Juul-Hansen’s building design features hand-formed Danish brick, Juliet balcony façades, and oversized mahogany windows that are harmonious with the Upper West Side’s architectural character. Not since Danish immigrant Jonas Bronck (for which The Bronx is named) has a Dane given New York City so much in a time of need.

“I’m a big believer in the beauty of natural materials,” said Juul-Hansen, whose résumé includes interiors at luxurious developments, private homes and Michelin star restaurants such as Jean-Georges. “I believe this gives the architecture and design a timeless quality.”

Meanwhile the powder room showcases beautiful polished Marron Imperial marble slabs on the floor, accent walls, and custom carved sinks.
The building’s amenities include a 24-hour doorman and concierge, a roof terrace, a fitness center, bicycle storage, and perhaps (according to design renderings) select garages.

An elevator transports directly to the private residences.

“210 West 77th Street presented a unique opportunity to innovate architecturally while respecting of the character and beauty of the Upper West Side historic district,” said Miki Naftali, founder, chairman, and CEO of the Naftali Group, whose portfolio includes The Seymour at 261 West 25th Street, The Landmark Park Slope, The Bergen, and 33 Beekman.

The Upper West Side is an iconic neighborhood immortalized by pop culture—including the tragic assassination of John Lennon, and Seinfeld, You’ve Got Mail, Woody Allen’s Manhattan and most famously, by the Oscar-winning classic "West Side Story." Many artists, actors, celebrities, educators, and professionals call this community home. Dominated by five-story brownstones, famous Central Park towers with ornamented façades (The Dakota, San Remo, El Dorado) and older grand buildings topped with water towers, the Upper West Side is tight on space—despite its wide sidewalks and avenues. The 210 West 77th Street development is a rare example of recent new construction.

Upper West Side living space has always been a premium. During the construction of Central Park in the 1850s and 1860s, squatters moved their shacks into the Upper West Side (laying claim to any space they could find). This led to undesirable boarding houses and rowdy taverns.

One hundred years later, tenements used in the filming of "West Side Story" were razed to make way for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Today, the luxurious 210 West 77th building represents the latest call for urban renewal. But this modern west side story doesn’t require movie gangs or squatters to reclaim turf—just luxury space for its restless citizens.
