Another building designed by the architects of luxury, Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), 20 East End is situated in the posh, old-world East End enclave of the Upper East Side. The RAMSA-designed building, both inside and out, has 41 two- to six-bedroom homes, including three triplex townhomes and two full-floor penthouses, along with a multitude of hotel-inspired amenities, such as a private massage treatment room.

Located adjacent to the gorgeous fitness center, the private massage room is completed with a dedicated shower, changing room and Scandinavian-inspired sauna room. With the ease of a building app, residents can book a massage anytime they want. Jardim

Jardim, the Portuguese word for garden, is a fitting name for the first New York building by Isay Weinfeld, the world-renowned Brazilian architect and interior designer. With a canopy of native evergreens and flowering trees, an ultra-private urban park envelops the two 11-story towers that comprise this West Chelsea development. Weinfeld has designed spas and pools for some of the most elegant contemporary resorts in the world, including the Fasano Las Piedras in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He brings that same attention to sensory experience to the amenities at Jardim, where a serene pool surrounded by cool terrazzo floors and warm reclaimed old-growth pine walls opens up to the courtyard gardens with staggered skylights, suffusing the space with sunlight. The Kent

Superstar hospitality designer, Alexandra Champalimaud (Beverly Hills Hotel, Raffles Singapore, The Palace Hotel, Four Seasons Jakarta) is at the helm for the interiors of The Kent, a 30-story art deco development located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. In addition to a wide variety of cool amenities, including a pool and sauna, teen room, and sound lounge, The Kent offers a Garden Salon, akin to a hotel’s executive club level lounge, and the Drawing Room, where residents can entertain guests. These spaces were crafted for residents to imbibe, relax and play all while overlooking a beautifully landscaped zen-like courtyard garden by West 8 landscape architects.

The Kent also offers stroller valet service. Residents can have their stored stroller wheeled out prior to their departure and subsequently can leave their strollers with concierge upon their return for both convenience as well as not take up any residential storage space.

Known for its luxury resort operations, One&Only is launching its first ever branded real estate and residential offering in the world. One&Only Mandarina is selling private homes in a billion dollar development just outside Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Built alone one and a half kilometers of shoreline in the region, Mandarina is the latest luxury resort and residential community to come in the past few decades. The new homes being offered are sure to draw high profile buyers and continue building the appeal for the region’s luxury travelers.

This new wave of residences is only step one of Rosewood’s plan, with the end game of the resort and residences planning for 130 guestrooms in the resort and 92 residential offerings. The community, the first Rosewood property in the country, will also feature a spa, children’s area, tennis center, along with shopping and restaurants.

In Paris, the legendary Hotel George V, by the Four Seasons, is steeped in rich, French history.

The hotel features an opulent design both in the rooms and throughout the building that harkens back to a bygone era of Parisian culture. Constructed in 1928 by André Terrail and George Wybo, it was handed away after Black Thursday in France in 1929 to the bank. The décor in the rooms feature plump pillows, tufted backboards, and a white color palate that is accented by fresh flowers daily.

According to a source, “ the Four Seasons Hotel George V is now part of the Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts chain of the Kingdom Holding Company (Prince Al-Walid Ben Talal's investment company ben Abdelaziz Al Saoud of Saudi Arabia to 45%, Bill Gates at 45% and the founder Isador Sharp at 10%). Since 13 September 2011, Four Seasons Hotel George V has joined the other eight palaces of France3.”

The hotel also makes wonderful use of not overcrowding rooms. While a slew of decadent items can be a problem for more regal and prestigious hotels, the décor included in guests’ rooms includes only the necessities for travelers like a desk, chair, and ornamental objects like a lamp or vase. These tactics are perfectly balanced in one’s home, as well by not overcrowding rooms to better express one’s self.

For those living in large scale, opulent homes, consider scaling back on regal ornamentation for a décor sampling, and instead keep fewer, better pieces in a room. The Four Seasons’ George V is a perfect example of how doing so can help make the chosen pieces shine that much brighter.
