Spotlighted celebrities that are set to appear include distinguished athletes, Chris Paul and Emmitt Smith, as well as famed Hollywood actors and personalities like Eve and Wayne Brady. Alongside the stars, interior design aficionados, Jason Cameron and Sabrina Soto, will work to help these celebrities achieve the renovation gift of their dreams.

This series strips away the glitz and glamour of Hollywood stars, allowing them just to recognize, appreciate, and celebrate those who helped them to achieve their own personal, emotional, and/or career-based success. The art world is an exclusive and lucrative industry, with acclaimed pieces serving as both valuable cultural archives and fruitful monetary investments. With such intrinsic worth, and intense appeal, art heists, and intent to resell pieces on the black market for billions, are more common than we’d like to admit.

Though most museums tend to invest in and boast about their sealed security to protect their high-profile art, many museums, exhibitions, and galleries can fall victim to art theft. Pieces attached to renowned artist names like Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian have an especially high and constantly rising value and, therefore, unfortunately, attach a target to the museum or collection that possesses them. Many pieces can be extremely difficult to relocate and recover yet there is still hope, almost a decade after a large Athenian art heist, Greek police recovered stolen Picasso and Mondrian paintings from the National Gallery in Athens in 2012.

In addition to the two paintings that were rediscovered earlier this week - Picasso’s Head of a Woman and Mondrian’s Landscape with a Mill - a suspect of the museum heist was finally identified and arrested. A 49-year-old construction worker and self-proclaimed avid “ArtFreak,” as his operating Twitter handle and pseudonym denotes, was arrested after speaking to officers and the investigating magistrate on Thursday, boasting his avid interest in art. The suspect made online comments leading to an untactful digital footprint which was leaked and discovered over Greek social media platforms and later confirmed by the suspect’s own lawyer. In addition to the discovery of this evidence, the suspect, whose name and identity have not yet been released, admitted and recounted his solo art heist. He recalls his 2012 three painting theft, one of which is presumably still not located, from the National Gallery in Athens, and confesses his genuine regret and remorse for his actions.

Immediately following his confession, the arrested suspect was led to a ravine in Porto Rafti, east of Athens, to return the briefcase containing the Picasso and Mondrian works. These precious works will be securely transported and returned to the recently reopened National Gallery museum which underwent nine years of intense renovation as a commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence in Athens. With the museum’s oeuvre now restored and more complete, the celebration can continue.

Jeffree Star, mogul of YouTube and self-proclaimed “makeup magician,” lover of luxury and color, and no stranger to controversy, decides its time to sever his ties to California, selling his $20M Hidden Hills mansion and planning to move to his 70-acre ranch in wild Wyoming.

The glamorous makeup artist purchased the expansive Hidden Hills property in 2019 from the hedge fund manager, Jeffrey Feinberg, for just below $15 million. Star, in his Hidden Hills home, definitely lived among the stars as his celebrity neighbors included Kim Kardashian West, Drake, and the equally scandalous family to Star: Lori Loughlin, Mossimo Giannulli, and their daughter, Olivia Jade, who, similarly to Star, have fled their high-brow and high-profile Los Angeles-area home for a modern farmhouse rumored to be near Star’s own future estate.

Due to his passion for individuality and color, Star spent the past two years adding vibrant flair and eye-catching customizations throughout the luxurious home. Perhaps these unique additions contribute to the Uber-expensive price tag; the on-the-market estate boasts its position as the fourth most expensive listing in the area. After what seems like an infinity of waiting, New York City has officially re-opened, lifting their remaining COVID19 restrictions as the city moves into post-pandemic, record-low case homeostasis. With these newfound unrestricted freedoms, the art and culture scene that New York City is so famously recognized for is now able to finally resume.

It’s been a long-awaited moment for art aficionados in New York City, but at last, the exciting art world can continue to take strides forward. The re-introduction of interactive installation pieces like Yayoi Kusama’s renowned infinity mirrored rooms to exhibitions like Cosmic Nature delights art-loving New York City residents who have been waiting for this moment for many months.

Kusama’s whimsical and obsessional paintings, sculptures, and pieces inspire and have been showcased at the New York Botanical Garden Cosmic Nature exhibition since April of 2021. Though the currently viewable pieces are and have been available to the general public for the past few months, after being delayed to open due to the pandemic for a year, the alluring and grandiose infinity rooms have tantalized visitors and art-connoisseurs who, until soon, have only been able to view them from the outside.

At long last, on August 3rd, 2021, Kusama’s most recently commissioned Infinity Room- Illusion Inside the Heart (2020) will be open for public exploration. This infinity room, from the outside, incorporates a glass and polished stainless steel reflective cube that aims to mirror the surrounding botanical topography. The interior of the piece features lights and designs replicated and reproduced over many mirrors in order to create an illusion of inescapable vastness and continuation. Kusama’s sculptures, paintings, and outdoor installations are both striking and breathtaking, and seamlessly fit with the New York Botanical Garden’s landscape, but her infinity mirrored rooms, like the aforementioned Illusion Inside the Heart, astound and invoke wonder.

Tickets to enter the entire botanical garden exhibition are available on sale this week, as well as separate timed tickets just to enter Kusama’s new infinity room piece, though the tickets notoriously sell out, so purchasing quickly is advised.

It is an atmosphere. That's why with this pandemic, where all of these restaurants are closing down, Balthazar is one who survives. And it will always be around, because of its energy. And that's how a hotel and a home should be designed. When you walk into a home you want to feel happy, relaxed, and warm, and that is achieved through all the little touches.”

“Through this pandemic, I don’t believe that anything changes when we are thinking about design as a practice. We've always had the opportunity to say that design is a problem solving exercise; we're looking at certain parameters to function within, which can be anything from environmental to personal challenges. The role of the designer is to take in all of the available information and craft the singular solution that answers all of the factors at hand. So, just philosophically speaking, I don't believe that design as a practice changes. I do think that the pandemic has opened up another opportunity, and that is found in the relationship between the client and the designer. I think that the client perspective has shifted, and that offers us a new possibility.”

"When we think about the client perspective changing, we think about how our new suggestions are received. The suggestions that we brought to them about how to conserve energy and reduce our carbon footprint got clients really excited. When we suggest that a particular material is not renewable or in real bounty still, clients are eager to learn about materials that are. So, I think we're seeing more and more openness coming from clients, it's not as much of an uphill battle.”

Joshua Rose:

“I think that at this moment, the important problems are clearer to the clients; the clients are better educated moving forward in their projects, and they are realizing what it is that they actually need to do. They need their homes to work for them. There has been less of a focus on wanting a certain style or aesthetic, but instead, their choices are more about what will actually work for them. A client may like something but it's not exactly conducive to the lifestyle that they have, so now, they have a much greater sense of their lifestyle needs and how they’ll actually live in their home.”

“We're definitely seeing the choices that clients want to make, and we can get them to spend a little bit more on these appropriate materials and sustainable choices that will last. Maybe they'll still have to do a refresh with the soft surfaces and swap out some of the furniture, but in terms of the base structure, the things that are really connected to the house, they invest in something that's going to pass the test of time.”

Chastity Centeno:

“Now, more than ever, because people have been cooped up for so long, we are seeing a rise in anxiety and depression. From children to adults, which is terrible, but it is the reality that we are facing. So when you're designing a home or space for anybody, those factors are something that we really need to take into consideration. As designers, we should really start to get to know our clients, not just what their favorite color or pattern is, but really having a conversation and asking, how do you guys function, how do you guys live, do you guys eat dinner together, things like that, because those are the small things that are going to help solve a problem. As designers, we all know that a round table encourages conversation, so if there is a family that's distant from each other, you want to implement that round table so they can face each other and start a conversation. We also must take some consideration of color psychology. If you have a person that is very anxious you might want to stay away from yellow. If you need some relaxation, throw some blue tones into a room. These are small things that somebody else who doesn't do what we do would never think of, but these are the kinds of things that really impact our clients."

Andre Wanderley:

“Our clients looked into their homes with a little more love and passion, further making us realize the importance of our work and dedication to transforming empty spaces, or just houses, into homes. People are now trying to truly live in their homes, the home is not only for sleep anymore. Last year forced everyone to take a look into their house and think about what could be improved. It’s a matter of making your family happier, we want to bring love into the house. That is what we’ve taken away, this year has humanized our company even more, because we’re not just looking into the design, we’re looking at living.”

“The questions are changing, people are more worried about family recipes, home offices, and the gym that they want in their house. They are more interested in the zen spa and in-home massage place than before. We are seeing a change in their demand and that, of course, changes the design too. People are concerned with total comfort and are less into some of the aspects of design in pieces. People love Italian designs, but prior to the pandemic it could’ve been enough if a piece was Italian, but I feel like it's not enough anymore. People want to visualize their lives in the home, they ask themselves: am I going to sit well here, am I going to have a great dynamic if I have this piece here? I feel like that's the future, wanting our homes to be comfortable places."
