Sherrill is the exclusive agent representing the South of Fifth, Miami, Florida real estate market as a member of the Haute Residence Real Estate Network.</p>

<p>The topics included Sherrill’s illustrious career joining the highly esteemed ONE Sotheby's International Realty team, her remarkable accolades as a multi-million-dollar producer, and her ascendancy in the South of Fifth luxury real estate market.</p>
<p>Since receiving her real estate license in 2000 and joining ONE Sotheby's International Realty in 2010, Anna Sherrill has made a name for herself, ranking both locally and internationally across boards in the Miami real estate industry. She negotiated record-breaking deals as the sales director for several luxury Miami condo developments and contributed wholeheartedly to Sotheby’s International Realty’s unprecedented growth in Florida. Anna ranked #4 amongst all individual agents in Miami on REAL Trends for 2019 sales volume, and #15 amongst Sotheby's International Realty agents nationwide. Her experience and expertise were recognized as part of ONE SIR’s Top Producing circle for 3 consecutive years from 2017, 2018, and 2019. Being a multi-million-dollar producer, Anna Sherrill has generated over $110 Million in real estate sales in 2019. Most recently, Anna has been recognized by the 2020 Real Trends &amp; Wall Street Journal The Thousand Rankings as the #5 agent in Miami, and the #84 in the entire country.</p>
<p>Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Sherrill.</p>
<p><strong>Seth Semilof: After school, what did you end up doing?</strong></p>
<p>Anna Sherrill: I had some interesting sales jobs. I worked for a company that a friend of my mom owns which booked athletic teams in hotels all over the nation. I did that during college and a little bit after college. I also worked for a headhunting company which was really popular at that time, but as soon as I moved to Miami in 1999, I got my license in 2000 very shortly after. The company that had sold us our place, Suncoast Properties, was a little office in Brickell Key. The owner offered me a job and asked if I wanted to get into real estate. I got my license and started right away.</p>
<p><strong>SS: In 2000, we were in a recession, so you got in at the worst time in the market, correct?  </strong></p>
<p>AS: It was a tough time. I was recruited shortly after by a development company called ISG, International Sales Group. They did marketing and sales for a lot of developers. They still do incredibly well. I went and worked with them right away, which was great. I got into self-developments and that is a great way to start your career. We traveled all across South America and Central America. We would go with an immigration attorney as well. We would meet with different brokers in those cities. They would put people in a room, and we would be able to present our developments. It is a great way to start because you can actually get paid. You are building a business when you are first starting and it is truly your own business. Starting with a developer, they pay for marketing and a lot of the things you maybe cannot afford as a new agent. That really helped me build my business, learn the market, and meet a lot of agents.</p>
<p><strong>SS: Everyone wants to do the luxury properties and you make it seem easy. Tell us some of the learning experiences that led you up to that point.</strong></p>
<p>AS: It is never easy. It is a learning curve of learning to listen to people to try to be an expert in the market. Knowledge is everything in this market and in every market. It is really about educating yourself but also listening to your client and doing what they want you to do. 90% of my business is referral business; it is repeat clients, friends, family, or brokers that refer me business. I know that every client is special and there to teach me as well because a lot of these people are incredibly smart, really savvy, know the market well, know what they want, and know the business well. You can learn a lot from your clients as well.</p>
<p><strong>SS: Can you tell us about being involved in One Thousand Museum and some of the success stories you have had? </strong></p>
<p>AS: People want to understand why we are the most expensive. Obviously, it is the best building in my opinion. It is an iconic building and what they have done here is incredible. Especially during COVID, the price tag here is the highest price tag, not only price per foot but total price. People are not used to paying this price tag in this area, so it really is about educating the buyers, getting the right people through the door, and building that trust. In the beginning, we had a couple of months where nothing was really happening, and it was scary. We did virtual open houses and instead of ten people showing up, we had two hundred and something people watching. We got great exposure, even though at the beginning, it was a little tough. It is all about pivoting, using your resources, knowing the agents selling in your area, following up with them, and knowing your product really well.</p>
<p><strong>SS: What advice would you give to somebody that is in your shoes who might have moved to Miami or L.A., a city without real relationships, which is the majority of realtors? </strong></p>
<p>AS: To start out, if you can, join a team or have a mentor. It is super important because you want to learn from the best of the best. If you want to enter a market and work for people, even if you take on a rental business for a big team, you will learn from that team. I also think if you can, get into development. Even as a junior associate, you learn so much in sales. That can also be people’s career. I am blessed to be in both, but some people are just in development sales, and they do incredibly well in that. If you are inspired by that or the other, whichever one you get into is great.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“When I think about designing, I always reference the restaurant Balthazar in New York City, because, there's probably better restaurants, there's probably better food, but when you walk into that restaurant with your girlfriend, your children, your grandmother, whoever it is, you feel like you’re more in Paris than in New York. It is an atmosphere. That's why with this pandemic, where all of these restaurants are closing down, Balthazar is one who survives. And it will always be around, because of its energy. And that's how a hotel and a home should be designed. When you walk into a home you want to feel happy, relaxed, and warm, and that is achieved through all the little touches.”</span></p>

<p>De la Vega is President of ONE Sotheby's where, among other projects, he and his team have led the way in sales as the exclusive broker of the ultra-luxury development <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://dev.hauteresidence.com/one-thousand-museum-secures-inventory-loan-record-breaking-sales/">One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects</a></span> in Downtown Miami. <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://www.annasherrill.com/">Sherrill</a></span> sold a unit at <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="http://www.1000museum.com/">One Thousand Museum</a></span> to start 2021 with a bang; she has sold multiple apartments in the building. <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://www.paolamarulanda.com/">Marulanda</a></span> recently <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://dev.hauteresidence.com/paola-marulanda-closes-sale-beach-house-sofi/">closed her sale of the $15 million Beach House</a></span> in the South of Fifth area of Miami Beach.</p>
<p>This webinar marks the first anniversary since <em>Haute Residence</em> began its exclusive and industry-leading webinars on the latest in real estate, featuring top agents from around the world, developers, and interior designers. <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://dev.hauteresidence.com/webinar-one-sothebys-international-realty-daniel-de-la-vega-real-estate-in-age-covid-19/">De la Vega was the first featured guest</a></span> in <em>Haute Residence's</em> webinars, which took place as the lockdown measures were being implemented throughout the U.S. and worldwide.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Highlight quotes:</strong></span></p>
<p><strong>Daniel de la Vega</strong>: "[At this point last year,] I don't think anybody had real estate on their mind. Their family and their friends and their well-being were really everybody's priorities. Overall, personally and professionally, gratefulness is a word that continues to come to mind for me.</p>
<p>"We prepared for the worst, but we had an incredible year. We all believed that Florida and South Florida were always undervalued, but we did not think people would come here in the way they're coming. This is the Great Migration from the Northeast, just within the last year. We projected to finish the year down almost 70%; that's where we were budgeting. We took our budgets from 2019 to 2020 and completely scraped them and said, 'All right, these are the new budgets and we're going to be down 70%.' We actually ended up finishing the year in 2020 up 30%, and that was with an abysmal March, April, and May. Things started to pick up at the end of May and June. Everybody came together, all of our incredible agents, in a way that not many companies did it. It's a testament to our entire leadership team and to the grit that everybody has in this company. We've got some even more incredible announcements and things that we're going to be doing here in 2021, so it's been far beyond all of our wildest dreams... Understanding the client is so important. As agents, we start to sell, but it's the opposite. You want to engage with clients at an early stage by asking and listening.</p>
<p>"One Thousand Museum is more than just the crown jewel of Downtown Miami; it's the crown jewel of Miami. We did over $100 million last year, and on pace to do over $50 million right now. We're negotiating two major major deals. At the end of the day, it boils down to the product. Our sales team is, bar none, one of the best in the industry, but the product that the developers built is the best product that's out in the market. When you look at the finishes and when you look at the quality, it's just superior to so much else that's out there. When people walk it they feel it now, they see it, and they smell it. They get emotions that create an attachment that makes them want to buy. The amenities are out of this world, the views are out of this world. So, it's been an incredible experience and it will continue to be throughout the sellout."</p>
<p><strong>Anna Sherrill</strong>: "I saw people helping each other with small businesses. Just watching our community become stronger, within Sotheby's, within my family, and within Miami Beach where I live was special for me... Nobody would have imagined right the weird have, during the pandemic, to have such a peak in luxury sales right. It was amazing and the beginning of this year, for me, was even stronger than the entire year of last year. Sellers are definitely still wanting to sell because this market is is a very strong and hot market. If you have the right property in the right location and priced right, there's no reason you won't have sold very quickly. I feel like we still have a huge amount of buyers that want to be here. A lot of people that have rented are looking for their place to call home, so I still have several buyers looking, and quite a few people that will be here in the future, or are here now and ready to buy.</p>
<p>"Supply and demand is the biggest difference [between 2020 and 2021]. The buyers shifted. It used to be just a lot of the Northeast and we used to get more of an international crowd, but in the last year, we have seen people come from Illinois, North and Southern California, and other areas. Our supply has gone down from several months of inventory in houses and condos to a few months. The good stuff is days on the market and gets multiple offers. It's a different market. I have been in real estate for 21 years and have never seen this kind of market. As long as you're communicating, managing people's expectations, and both sides are doing the right thing, you can get deals done and make everybody happy."</p>
<p><strong>Paola Marulanda</strong>: "We really need to be there with our hearts for people. We cannot possibly understand what everybody's going through, so we need to listen. And we need to put our hearts first, and that's what allows us to understand how we can serve people who are still emotionally unequipped for such a massive change for all the things that were happening. Empathy was definitely my best friend through this and what allowed me, I think, to succeed a lot and to keep being a source of comfort and help people to make good decisions.</p>
<p>"We are seeing people who are not moving quickly and not accepting what's happening are either losing out or progressively missing opportunities. A lot of sellers are having second thoughts about selling because they think, 'Even if I profit this much, now where do I go?' because the inventory is so competitive. People coming from the outside are used to paying such higher price points. If you're a buyer, read the numbers yourself and see what's happening from any source, not just your realtor. I don't think that this is the bubble that's that you're going to buy and then it's going to depreciate. This is just the beginning of a steady increase in the new era that Miami is experiencing, and now Miami's being discovered in a way that it was never discovered before."</p>
<p>On her sale of the Beach House in South of Fifth, "This buyer was the perfect person to live here and was exactly who we were targeting. He's obviously a very wealthy person. This is not even their primary residence. It's in South a fifth, which is a community that has so much that everybody wants right now, but there's nothing like it that is like a house. Even penthouses are not comparable to this particular property."</p>

<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span class="s1">In his role since 2013, </span><span class="s1">Parker has grown Douglas Elliman's presence in markets from Miami to Jupiter, to Palm Beach and St. Petersburg. They have a total of 21 offices and more than 1,100 agents. Under Parker's leadership, Douglas Elliman Florida had a record year in 2018 with $4.7 billion in total sales volume, which was up 30% over the prior year. Parker has been a key figure in the growth of the brand, which is now represented in luxury real estate markets in 60 countries and six continents through its partnership with London-based Knight-Frank Residential.</span></span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">The interview was hosted by <em>Haute Living</em>'s <strong>Seth</strong> <strong>Semilof</strong>. </span><span style="color: #000000;">Parker began his remarks by giving praises to the medical community and first responders that have been hard at work.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">On the interaction with banks, while those are working on the Small Business Administration rollouts, he said "I've spoken with a number of banks. Lenders have reached out to me. The rates being as low as they are, I feel confident we will see a strong financial market. Unlike the last recession, lenders are much more cautious about lending. The banks are in the business of providing financing, and they will get back to that."</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">"Think of this like any slow period," he said about advice he and his leadership team give to their agents. "In our business, it's not uncommon for an agent to have no business. It's important we focus on goals. Make a plan for when this passes. Work on your database. Distinguish new and old clients. Request reviews from clients. Make five calls, send five emails, five thank-you notes, five text messages every day. Communicate with your clients. See how they and their families are feeling. If possible, spend time with your family. Take an online course you did not have time to before. And connect with agents in other markets."</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">"This is going to be a time that presents a lot of pent-up demand," he said about the post-quarantine market. "We launched a project in West Palm Beach last month. Things are going to be delayed, but we are working on pre-development."</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">He also answered questions submitted by viewers during the live broadcast. On a question about relocations to South Florida from other major markets, submitted by <a href="https://1000museum.com/">One Thousand Museum</a> developer</span> <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://dev.hauteresidence.com/birdman-defortuna-trump-stern-live-developer-webinar/">Louis Birdman</a></span><span style="color: #000000;">, Parker said, "We saw a surge of interest in rentals at the beginning (of quarantine times). Now, those people that were borderline retirement are saying, 'Let's do it now'. We will see more people moving from California and New York moving here full-time. I think that New York, one of the strongest and most important cities in the world, will bounce back out of this pandemic." <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">The webinar was hosted by <em>Haute Living</em>'s <strong>Seth Semilof</strong> and <strong>Kamal</strong> <strong>Hotchandani</strong>. The Alexander brothers joined the webinar from their Miami Beach home.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">The brothers spoke of the real estate markets in The Hamptons, New York City, and South Florida and how each has adapted to the current times of quarantine. They talked candidly about how they and their agents are working to support their clients, new developments they are representing, and more.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">Oren recalled how the market was going through difficult times when they started their business in 2009 and his outlook for the coming future. "This time it's not a financial crisis but a global pandemic. Though things have rightfully slowed down, we feel that the market and the economy will be back. There will be deals out there." He continued on how they are using the current times to plan ahead. "</span><span style="color: #000000;">Before, our days were very fast-paced. This moment during quarantine has given us time to strategize about our future."</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">Tal went into detail about the New York market's current standstill. "Over the last month, there are no showings taking place in New York. We let our sellers what's taking place and our protocol. Before the crisis, the market was up; things were selling. I believe we will get back to business. In The Hamptons, the summer months are the busiest. People snatched up rentals in The Hamptons quicker this year through Labor Day weekend, creating an extended summer season."</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">On Miami, Oren looks positively on the real estate market coming out of the quarantine mode currently in place for the industry and life overall. "I do feel that South Florida has the most to gain out of it. People are putting value into their life and home," he said. "I feel the Miami market will be on top as we close out 2020. We have an amazing inventory that we are looking to start showing."</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">For the rest of 2020 in real estate, Tal said, "For New York, I think we will have a lot of pent-up demand (for movement). People will need to have more space or downsize."</span></p>
