Many Manhattan buildings incorporate art into their architecture, whether it be in their lobbies and public amenity spaces or in creating world-class art hanging and viewing options inside homes. But one thing not all buildings can offer in the art world is direct views of the stunning museums in Manhattan.

New York City has some of the top museums in the world, most of which are massive budgets, starchitect-designed buildings that are art in themselves. Therefore, views of these creations are art in themselves, not to mention if you have a view of these museums, you are also in close proximity to viewing their collections on a daily basis.

Architect Frank Lloyd Wright left a trace of greatness all over the world, especially the United States. But one of his most personal residences—his own home at The Plaza Hotel (which he did not design)—was recently listed for $39.5 million. His 4,000-square-foot corner suite at 1 Central Park South boasts 13-foot ceilings, four bedrooms, three-and-a-half marble bathrooms, a modern chef’s kitchen, and perfect views of Central Park.

Wright lived in Apt. 409 from 1954 to 1959 while overseeing the construction of the iconic Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue. He died in 1959, and the Plaza condo was one of his last official residences (if not his last). The famous apartment was featured in Architectural Digest last November.

Wright’s former condo was "gut renovated" by Louis Lisboa of VL Architects, and interior designer Susanna Maggard in 2011. The master bedroom size was reduced in favor of expanding the living and dining room space on both ends to enhance light and views (also aided by large windows).

With all important rooms facing Central Park, the collaboration also created three additional bedrooms (one doubles as a den and another is wheel chair accessible with private entry). The apartment also offers reduced rates to La Palestra's Spa and Gym, The Palm Court, and the Food Court—all Plaza amenities. Corcoran Group’s Marie-Claire Gladstone has the listing.

The architect was most famous for his organic architecture philosophy which involved designing structures in harmony with the environment. This included Prairie-style houses (extended low buildings with sloping roofs, overhangs, suppressed chimneys and terraces crafted of unfinished materials) as well as Usonian Houses (dwellings that were designed on concrete slabs with flat roofs and no basements or attics). He also incorporated Japanese art influences into his designs.

Wright’s organic architecture philosophy was best exemplified by Fallingwater, the National Historic Landmark residence near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which is built partly over a waterfall in the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains. Fallingwater was voted by the American Institute of Architects as the “best all-time work of American architecture” in 1991. The AIA also honored Lloyd-Wright as the greatest American architect of all-time.

Some of Wright’s other notable designs includes the Frederick C. Robie House and the Johnson Wax Building which were also honored by the AIA. Wright’s designs are perfect expressions of their era while timeless and impressive enough to stand out and attract positive attention in modern times. Now a new Plaza resident can see the world—or at least Central Park—as he saw it.

For art lovers and novices alike, there are a few gloriously beautiful museums around the world whose architecture and artwork-filled walls make them worth traveling for. Flavor Wire just did a recap of the top 20, and we're giving our nod to the top ten.

(10) At number 10 is the MAS Museum located in Antwerp, Belgium that was designed by Neutelings Riedijk. It is made of the most exquisite Indian red sandstone and has curved glass panel construction with themes within the museum ranging from Metropolis, Power, Life and Death to Antwerp’s extensive history as a major international port.

(9) Next is the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada, which remains Canada’s largest museum of world culture and natural history.

(8) Denmark has its own little gem--- The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek. It is a milestone in Danish architecture and holds an extensive, permanent collection of modern as well as contemporary art ranging from World War II until modern day.

(7) The Modern Art Museum is definitely worth noting. Located in Forth Worth, Texas, this museum collects and presents post-World War II art in all forms of media.

(6) The elegant and enchanting Musee d’Orsay hailing from Paris, France earns a spot on this list. It sits on the left bank of the Siene and holds mostly French art, but is renowned for its extensive collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces.

(5) Of course, there is the ever-famous Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain. It was designed by Frank Gehry and remains contemporary architecturally and exhibits the works of Spanish and international artists.

(4) Vietnam has its own treasure called the Hanoi Museum and was designed by GMP Architects. The Hanoi Museum showcases none other than Hanoi and Vietnam’s history, and what’s more remarkable is that the building itself resembles a reverse pyramid.

(3) Third is the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art located in Kansas City, Missouri. It was entirely built of original limestone from the 1930s; later, Steven Holl designed the modern extension of the building. The architecture stands in all its neoclassical glory with an extensive collection of Asian art.

(2) The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia comes in second, being that it is one of the oldest museums in the world. Catherine the Great founded it in 1794. Not only is it absolutely spectacular with its antiquated architecture, but also it holds nearly 3 million pieces of art.

(1) The number one spot goes to the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar. This stunning museum was designed by I.M. Pei and holds true to Islamic architecture, maintaining itself to be oh so haute with its masterpieces spanning three continents ranging from the Middle East as far as Spain and India.
