In 1967, Frank Sinatra purchased the Palm Desert estate and completed transforming the property into his home by 1970. Named after his character in From Here to Eternity, Sinatra’s mountain retreat became a generous space for relaxation and entertainment. The quintessential American singer spent 14 years in the home with his fourth wife, Barbara, before it was donated to Loyola Marymount University, then sold to a private buyer. In the years following, the opulent property has been on and off the market but was recently relisted for $4.25 million as listing agent Markus Canter of Berkshire Hathaway claims, “the property and the market are now in alignment.” Traveling from Washington, Texas, New Jersey, England, and Italy, prospective buyers are elated to view the renowned estate. The luxurious property offers scenic views, plentiful outdoor space, and a home that evokes the feel of a summer vacation.

Sinatra’s Villa Maggio spans 7.5 acres of picturesque land and includes nine bedrooms and 12.5 bathrooms. The property consists of a five-bedroom main house, three-bedroom guesthouse, and one-bedroom pool house. Many of the bedrooms are luxurious guest suites featuring their own bathrooms, fireplaces, balconies, or adjacent decks. Grey died of cancer at the age of 59 in 2017, only months after stepping down from his post at the renowned Hollywood studio.He finished building the main, 5-bedroom residence almost two years ago.

The Grey Estate sprawls on over 2 acres behind steel-framed wooden gates on the exclusive Carolwood Drive. It is a modern masterpiece, brought to life by famed architect Howard Backen, who seamlessly combined contemporary design with natural finishes to allow for an easy transition between interior and exterior.

"There is no finer location in the Beverly Hills/West Los Angeles estate marketplace than Carolwood Drive," said Joyce Rey, broker with Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, who has shown Grey's property to clients. "I met Howard Backen on one of his trips to Southern California and I have always been a huge fan of his architecture, which optimizes the casual California lifestyle."

The heart of the main house resides in the open, barn-like great living room, which flows to the kitchen and dining quarters as well as to the family room, where an elongated fireplace commands attention.

Frank Sinatra’s stunning New York penthouse is now for sale for $4.995 million, after previously being placed on the market for $7.7 million.
