The buildings reached 90% sold in March of 2021 with the remaining 10% sold by mid-May.

During the 2017 Miami Art Week, Jade Signature and developer Fortune International Group celebrated the unveiling of Bonhomme Universe, the tower’s gemstone “snowman,” a whimsical piece by Romania-born artist Daniel Knorr which was commissioned as a public sculpture on the beach by Fortune International Group President and CEO Edgardo Defortuna.

Knorr first began creating these sculptures when he became fascinated by the conceptual possibility of a snowman existing without snow. In Bonhomme Universe, he re-located this cold-climate object to a sub-tropical environment, releasing it from the material it was once reliant on. Bonhomme Universe stands 10.5' tall and 5.57' wide at the base. The "snowman" is crafted around a metal grid of stainless steel and topped with concrete which is adorned with 28 different types of precious and semi-precious stones that have been polished and treated for durability, including green quartz, red jasper and moonstone. The vibrant gemstones chosen were inspired by the colors of the Miami landscape yet sourced from around the world. These natural materials reflect the diverse mesh of buyers at Jade Signature, a testament to Miami’s unique cultural identity. Instead of the typical broom for an arm, this snowman has a palm tree, fashioned from stainless steel. This extended arm serves as a friendly wave to passersby, but also has the deeper visual reference, with the palm tree an ancient symbol of peace, victory, and eternal life that originated in Near East and Mediterranean culture.

Raimundo Onetto: "Due to the pandemic, we were forced to do things in completely different ways. There was a lot of pressure on real estate, but we were able to come up with new concepts, new ideas, and I think that is going to change how projects are designed in the future... I'm very proud of Quadro Miami. It's one of the latest condos that we finished last year. We spent more than two years designing it. We hired a famous artist in Chile to bring all of his ideas into the project. We brought the art and connected the Miami Design District with the project. It came out really nice, and sales are doing great. It's a boutique 12-story building with great views of the Bay, within walking distance to the Design District. Miami Beach is right there and the airport is five minutes away. What we are selling here is a new way of buying a condo in Miami. It's a concept of 'own, live, and share.' You can buy a unit and put it on long or short-term program. Snowbirds can have a unit here, use it for six months, go back home and still make money... We have seen a lot of domestic buyers from New York. They come here with their family and say, 'I'm going to try this for six months.' On foreign buyers, they are looking to keep their money safe. We add a little more to that. We offer them a product that they can own a piece of real estate but also use it without paying enormous amounts of expenses over the year... When Miami started opening again, we changed the strategy, focusing more on foreign countries but also starting the idea of reaching out to New York buyers, and I think it's been very successful."

Edgardo Defortuna: "South Florida is positioned to be one of the best places in the world and we are lucky to be here and in the real estate business... Quadro Miami is very appealing to the person that is not going to use the unit on a full-time basis. And the flexibility of being able to get an additional unit when people are here makes it very effective... Unlike many foreign developers, Alta Developers started by learning the market. They really got educated and participated in projects, understanding what buyers in South Florida is all about; they put their heart into it and build products for the lifestyle the potential buyer really wants and desires. Quadro Miami is the perfect example for that. They came up with a great location, with a perfect size for units, and a price point that the market is very attracted to, and created a program that you can rent it on a short-term basis. Alta puts attention to detail... In the early days, snowbirds spent a month or two depending on their location. What is happening now and for the last two or three years, since the tax reform of 2018, we have seen an incredible desire and motivation from northeasterners, Californians, and other high-tax states to move to South Florida. The effect that created was very significant, with major players moving to South Florida for the climate and the lifestyle. When they experience what it's like to live here, they fall in love with it... People want to start vacationing again, and South Florida is perfectly positioned to handle that. We saw that early on during the pandemic of people coming from New York, and they are still here. I see that repeating itself during this Winter season."

Dr. J. Antonio Villamil: "The overall foreign market has become more established. The seasonality that we saw over the decades of snowbirds has changed completely. With Latin America, Brazil, and Europe coming here to purchase real estate, we have seen a structural change over the last decade towards more inflow of foreign buyers coming in and purchasing real estate. The industry has adapted to it. Its flexibility is also a critical component long-term. In spite of the decline we have seen in the number of visitors to South Florida, the quality and depth have increased significantly... Once a vaccine is deployed effectively, we will be able to see a significant pickup in economic activity through snowbirds and other visitors as this is a key area to invest, especially in real estate... The Snowbird phenomenon has been going on for over 100 years. We get 127 million visitors in Florida every year. A good percentage of that is "sunbirds," who become full-time residents... People are starting to fly again but very cautiously. We do see more visitors coming into the state in 2021, especially to the South Florida area. We are now a global center for visitors. That creates a cushion in terms of the downturn. Things are beginning to level off; I find that this is a very uncertain period, so reaching buyers virtually, like Edgardo and Raimundo are doing, has become very important... Casone took over and engaged the panelists in an hour-long conversation that encompassed multiple real estate markets. They gave their thoughts on the best ways for real estate agents, brokers, developers, and the industry overall to deal with the effect that COVID-19 has had on business and the rest of the year.

"There have been many changes in the way we are all doing business," said Birdman. "Real estate is a face-to-face business, but that has changed with this outbreak. People still need to move, have leases coming up and other circumstances, so properties continue to get shown in different ways to ensure the safety of sellers, buyers and people working at properties."

Stern spoke on New York's state of real estate affairs since the Big Apple became the center of the Coronavirus pandemic in the US. "For New York, we closed our office three and a half weeks ago, completely working remotely except for construction," he said. Then, he continued to compare his company's activity in South Florida with New York. "In Miami, we have not seen much of a drop in manpower in construction. For the most part, we are doing construction in Florida and largely stopped in New York."

"We are able to continue with the construction, but taking care of our workers," said Trump. He continued, "We are making great use of technology to share communications to tell the story of The Estates at Acqualina. We are in constant communication with our customers today, even more so than prior."

Casone asked Defortuna about the quick learning curve for the entire industry on how to conduct business from a distance. "Especially on the luxury side of the market, nobody needs to buy a second or third home," he said. "They buy it because they love it. From the marketing point of view, we have specialized in marketing to the entire world, providing tools to brokers to promote our projects in Latin America, Europe, and worldwide. Presentations of this type are happening all over the world. My brokers are saying they are busier now than before when they were doing presentations one-on-one."

Auberge Beach Residences & Spa will be the newest location to utilize the Auberge Resort Collection’s hospitality expertise, joining Auberge’s other award-winning properties: Auberge du Soleil and Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley, Calif.; Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo., and Malliouhana Hotel & Spa, Anguilla, BWI.

To design Auberge Beach Residences & Spa, the developers tapped the internationally-recognized architecture firm Nichols, Brosch, Wurst, Wolf & Associates, known for its work on South Florida luxury hotels such as Marriott Marquis Miami World Center, the Westin Diplomat Resort-Hollywood, W Hotel & Residences Miami Beach and The Ritz-Carlton Resort & Residences Key Biscayne. The new Auberge project will depart from South Beach contemporary and traditional designs in favor of restrained sophistication.

Auberge Beach Residences & Spa which will boast two light-filled glass towers which will maximize the project’s unique on-the-beach setting, panoramic ocean views and resort-like ambiance. Ranging between 1,500- and 5,000-square feet, each of the 171 private residences will offer sweeping ocean views. The 22-story South tower will showcase 115 units while the 17-story North tower will feature 56 larger residences embellished by a curved façade of expansive cascading terraces, some with private pools.

Award-winning New York-based firm Meyer Davis will handle interiors which will project a “relaxed, yet elegant beach-chic vibe” via rich textures and organic materials that accentuate natural environs. Auberge Beach Residences & Spa will offer indoor common spaces (library, business center, fitness center and children’s playroom) as well as an indoor-outdoor lounge and restaurant, a spa, swimming pools, spacious decks, and gardens on the ground floor to seamlessly connect to the beach and community.

Each residence and lounge area will offer sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The restaurant and bar will be fully stocked and offer a diverse wine program.

The signature restaurant will be a lively American bistro with raw bar and an exceptional wine program which is an Auberge Resorts hallmark. World-class amenities will extend to common areas that will showcase contemporary art which will grace common areas.

Fort Lauderdale is a premier boating and tourist destination that attracts visitors from around the world to its approximately 300 miles of waterways and internationally renowned marinas. Soon the city will offer another destination directly on the sand.
