Project Runway Winner Christian Siriano Launches Debut Furniture Collection

Christian Siriano, winner of season four of Project Runway, has pivoted from fashion to interior design by launching his debut furniture collection.

The 35-year-old designer partnered with e-commerce market place, 1st Dibs to offer an eclectic and impressive debut furniture collection. According to a report from L'Officiel, Siriano's collection includes sculptural stools, coffee tables, settees and everything in between.

Siriano first burst onto the scene when he became the youngest champion of Project Runway in 2007. Since then, he has gone onto design looks for Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Amy Adams, Angelina Jolie and more. He nearly broke the internet along with Billy Porter after the actor debuted an exclusive Siriano-designed look to the 2019 Oscars.

Michael Scigliano Of MS2 Design Studio Reveals One Of His Greatest Design Secret Weapons

Every great designer needs a great upholsterer to make their vision become a reality. For Michael Scigliano, of MS2 Design Studio, that upholsterer is Fernando, one of the Alvarez brothers of Le Jeune Upholstery.

When you have a particular project or client, where items in a showroom won’t fit the need, custom is the only option. “I love the thought of my clients having something that was designed and fabricated especially for them.”

Each piece is Haute Couture for the home. The curved sofa and large Cavallini cowhide ottoman with the floating console is a perfect example of this. The curved bay window of this Miami Beach home needed a sofa that hugged the lines of the Art Deco architecture. Combining that shape with Holly Hunt textiles that can stand up to a family with two dogs and lots of entertaining and you have the perfect sofa!

In the 15 years that MS2 Design Studio has been working with Le Jeune Upholstery, they have collaborated on many special projects, including a pair of custom sofas with walnut bases for a vignette at Design on a Dime Miami in 2017. As well as, several pieces for the designer’s own home.

Le Jeune Upholstery is located in Miami and continues the legacy founded by their parents in 1971. Fernando has incorporated the quality and attention to detail learned through the years, into each finished piece in the workroom. He and his brothers share a passion for their work and continue to serve the design community to this day.

Blake Lively’s Side Hustle As An Interior Designer

Most people know actress Blake Lively for starring in some of the most beloved films and TV shows, such as Gossip Girl and The Age of Adaline. But what most don’t know is that she is an interior design genius and lover. In 2014, the actress launched her own website, Preserve, as a space intended to connect users with artisans, having her first experience with decor. The following year she decided to shut down the website, but her design side hustle stayed with her.

She enjoys the job so much that she offers to design her friend’s homes at no cost, and this is not just for fun. Lively puts real work and effort into these designs, using fabric swatches, pattern work, and mood boards.

In an Instagram post, she explained where she gets her inspiration from. She mentioned in the caption that it comes from simple everyday items and encounters, such as her own bathroom loose tile, her daughter’s clothes, and she even thanked her mom “for the sleeping disorder” that results in many productive all-nighters.

Blake Lively also revealed in an interview that decorating weddings is another dream of hers and that a wedding planner is on the top of her list of ideal jobs, coming right after acting and interior designing.

Even though she does all this designing for free, it has always been a passion of hers, and she even dreams of starting her own interior decorating firm.
