The stylish property functions as a simultaneous home and workspace, previously hosting renowned stars David Bowie, Tina Turner, and of course, Tim Burton who wrote his 2019 rendition of “Dumbo” in the east wing. While the space emulates the whimsy of Burton’s films, it is no longer in his use. In 2018, it was listed on the market for $29.4 million and last year, was once more briefly available for purchase. Now, the property is listed at $27.8 million with a rental option of $20.9 thousand per week.

Inspired by Paris’ Maison de Verre, Eglon House was built from scratch over six years before its completion in 2016. The property serves as a stylistic resident and workspace spanning two buildings and 13,000 square feet in the heart of central London. With its exposed structure, glass block shape, and open layout, the east wing resembles a glowing lantern. It features a grand salon, professional kitchen, fine dining room, orangery, and bedroom suite equipped with a distinctive copper bath. The west wing of the property is Art Deco inspired with a tall living room, kitchen, and open courtyard. Its two upper levels include three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a study. Further into the property is a pool with a waterproof screen and mechanical floor allowing the space to double as a cinema.

“There is a prescience in the design of Eglon House in how it meets the demands of the world now,” said Howard Kayman of luxury real estate agency Aston Chase. “It combines lateral studio spaces with intimate residential parts and successfully blurs the boundary between the two. A space like this is a rarity.”

NYCxDESIGN announced a new competition called IMPACTxDESIGN to transform New York City’s design scene. The program is in partnership with Caesarstone and the Design Trust for Public Space.

The IMPACTxDESIGN program calls all designers to show off their talents to further public engagement in Dumbo, Brooklyn, and downtown Manhattan. The new competition program aims to enhance public space and foster public engagement.

Design submissions are open until April 8. Design proposals must transform existing public places. The proposals should bring people together offering a place to slow down and appreciate the city’s beauty and fresh air. The designers must use Caesarstone’s quartz as their primary material.

The program will announce the two winning designers in May 2021. The winners will be awarded $10,000 each and the opportunity to work alongside NYCxDESIGN, Caesarstone, the Design Trust for Public Space, Dumbo Improvement District, and Downtown Alliance to install their designs. Not only that, the winning designers can make their mark in the city and gain exposure. The installations will be revealed this fall, before the NYCxDESIGN festival.

“Public space is one of New York’s most important assets. How we design, imagine and create these areas will impact New Yorkers for generations,” reported Executive Director of the Design Trust for Public Space Matthew Clarke.

“We are confident the program participants will create inspiring spaces with our beautiful and durable materials that will allow people to enjoy their surroundings and shared experiences,” Caesarstone Vice President of Marketing Elizabeth Margles explained.

The winning installations will remain in their location for at least one year.

NYCxDESIGN is a non-profit organization that organizes year-round activities to support and provide opportunities for New York City designers. Its mission is to help rebuild and re-energize the city as a design destination and creative center.

The minimalist, concrete-sculptured development 98 Front is taking New York City living to the next level. Located in the heart of Brooklyn's desirable DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) neighborhood, the building was designed by award-winning architecture firm ODA NEW YORK and Hope Street Capital. It blends sophisticated and innovative architecture with superlative craftsmanship.

“There is a simplicity in 98 Front Street’s design in the materiality and process that accentuates the building’s jewel box facade,” said ODA founder Eran Chen. “To provide residents with the best living experience we played with the geometry and layouts to create open floor plans that allow for flexible programming for living, working and entertaining at home, while maximizing the available light, air and outdoor spaces of each residence. Each of our nearly 50 residential buildings across New York City has its own unique geometry and personality, and we're excited to see 98 Front join the ranks.”

Photo Credit: Courtesy of ODA New York

Top priority was given to the building's luxurious amenities now being enjoyed by residents since they started living in their new homes earlier this year.

“Residents are likely going to be spending more time at home over the next year, so completing the amenities and landscaping quickly became our top priority—residents will be able to enjoy the building’s many amenities starting on day one,” said Sha Dinour, partner of Hope Street. “We look forward to unveiling 98 Front’s Penthouse Collection and Modern Garden Residences with separate guest houses."

Photo Credit: Courtesy of ODA New York

On the ground floor, residents can relax in the indoor saltwater pool, steam room and spa after working out in the fitness center. Outdoor fitness is available on the 7,000-square-foot communal rooftop with views of the classic Manhattan skyline, BBQ stations, three outdoor kitchens and screening area. The Residents Lounge and co-working space complete the package for the homeowners of the chic units inside 98 Front.

The condominium recently made news as the first new development in Brooklyn to receive approval by Fannie Mae, allowing any lender nationwide to offer attractive rates and up to 95% of financing. This makes 98 Front the sole new development in Brooklyn to achieve it thanks to sales of over 50% of units.

Photo Credit: Courtesy of ODA New York

“Today more than ever, achieving 50 percent sold and a Fannie Mae Approval is critical— especially as banks tighten their lending standards. It helps buyers secure attractive financing options from any lender in order to benefit from historically low rates and up to 95 percent financing, minimizing their down payment,” continued Dinour. “98 Front has successfully met buyers' expectations by delivering finished condominiums on time, avoiding potential financing risks that are surfacing for purchasers at other new developments. 98 Front is the only new development in the area to have sold this number of units in such a short period of time, despite the pandemic.”

The developers also partnered with with Eqpt Residences—a turnkey, end-to-end interior design solution—to welcome design-savvy buyers to the building. Award-winning interior designer Tara Benet will create customized and "magazine-ready designs with none of the hassle" for the residents at 98 Front as part of the Eqpt Residences Custom Design Experience.

Courtesy Williams New York

The development is introducing a 150,000-square-foot, resort-style amenities experience for its residents, which includes one of the city's largest parks. A verdant oasis of mature trees designed by Michael Van Valkenburg Associates the same artist who created Brooklyn Bridge Park introduces a connection to nature and the opportunity for its residents to access an outdoor area inside the development. Furthermore, a dreamy rooftop pool deck with luxe cabanas—styled similar to the city's most exclusive private clubs—offers a picture-perfect view of the Manhattan skyline.

Courtesy Williams New York

Taking advantage of its post, the luxury condominiums feature industrial-sized windows that frame its iconic waterfront views. In addition, the development boasts lifestyle spaces such as co-working lounges, chefs kitchens, private dining rooms and much more. As a rarity in Brooklyn Front and York has been designed with a grand porte cochère to compliment the building's robust private parking. Residents will be welcomed into a striking lobby, which opens to that wondrous park we mentioned before.

With cobblestone streets, trendy shops, great new restaurants, and riverfront views, the neighborhood is continuing to grow upward.

One of the area’s latest listings to hit the market is 37 Bridge Street, the former factory making soap has been since transformed into the Kirkman Lofts, overlooking the Manhattan skyline while still having enough space to not keep confined. Casement windows embedded in slate window sills make these homes a picture perfect space to relax and enjoy the wonder of the city at night. The space also features a large foyer, living room, and dining room and makes the most of New York’s most precious commodity: space.

This two bedroom two bathroom recently hit the market courtesy of Brown Harris Stevens’ Terry Naini. Coming in at $1.7 million, it’s surely not going to be around long. For all those looking for the laid back Brooklyn Life, without having to fret all winter over the imminent shut down of the L train in Williamsburg, DUMBO may prove to be your saving grace, with easy access to the city with the perfect blend of luxury amenities and relaxed settings.
