Nick Rivera Caminero, more notably recognized as singer-songwriter and rapper Nicky Jam, is deemed as one of the pioneers of the reggaeton genre. He has collaborated with artists such as J Balvin and Daddy Yankee and in August, released his most recent album titled "Infinity." Earlier this year, the musician sold his Palm Island home for $3.1 million. Now, he is making news once again for another real estate deal.

Mere months after parting ways with Palm Island, Caminero has purchased a $6 million unit at One Thousand Museum. State records show the sale was executed through Green House Domestic Holdings Four LLC. Designed by the late Pritzker prize winning architect Zaha Hadid, the luxury condominium complex is reportedly the most photographed high rise in downtown Miami. In 2019, Caminero’s newfound unit was previously sold for $4.5 million. Other notable residents of the luxury tower include David and Victoria Beckham and hospitality entrepreneur David Grutman.

Located in downtown Miami, Caminero’s One Thousand Museum unit spans half the size of his floor at 4,600 square feet. The extravagant space features four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The interior highlights a minimalistic bathroom, Italian designed walk-in closets, and state of the art home automation and lighting designed by German light designer Uli Petzold, For a seamless indoor and outdoor flow, the space offers an oversized terrace overlooking the beautiful Biscayne Bay. Luxe amenities of One Thousand Museum include an aquatic center with indoor pool, sky lounge, private rooftop helipad, 24-hour security, and valet staff.

Brooklyn Beckham, son of David and Victoria Beckham, is a 22-year-old model and aspiring photographer. In July of 2020, Beckham proposed to his now fiancé Nicola Peltz, actress in “Transformers,” “The Last Airbender” and “Bates Motel.” Nearly a year after news of the young couple’s engagement, the duo have recently purchased their first home together. Their expansive multi-million-dollar residence is located in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Beckham and Peltz’s purchased the lavish property for a whopping $10.5 million, reportedly one million above the asking price.

The celebrity couples’ newfound mansion spans 7,700 square feet and includes five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The museum like residence was developed by Micah McDonald and constructed and designed by Jason and Sonya Powell of the James Group. The foyer opens to a dazzling contemporary chandelier above the descending spiral staircase with access straight to the backyard. A seating room to the right of the entry offers a fireplace and built-in television. Further into the home, the sleek white kitchen is equipped with gold accents, bar with seating, and a breakfast nook. Down the spiral staircase in the foyer presents a juice bar with seating room leading to the home’s projector based private theater. Stepping outside, the exterior space spans 0.37 acres and features a saltwater pool, covered patio, and large roof deck that provides extra room for outdoor dining and lounging. Other amenities of the lush home include a white crystal quartz massage and healing room, yoga and gym room, soaking tub, dry sauna, and steam room with relaxation space.

Last year, David Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, purchased a penthouse at One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects. That news was soon followed by another soccer star, World Cup champion Paul Pogba, who also purchased a unit at the exoskeleton skyscraper in Downtown Miami.

The world's third highest-paid athlete reportedly shelled out $7.3 million for the fully-furnished ninth floor unit that includes four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, 2,100 square feet of terrace space, and a wine room that holds 1,000 bottles.

What’s the current status of the high-end home market?

The high-end is seeing a lot of demand and performing better than other market sectors right now. We have seen a ton of interest of late, and even logged over $100 million in transactions this year.

How has COVID-19 impacted this sector? Which markets are doing relatively well? Which have been impacted the most? How has it played out in towers/condos?

In March when the pandemic hit, there was a migration out of highly dense cities. One Thousand Museum saw immediate interest from states like New York, Connecticut, Illinois and California – some buyers who had been mulling over a home in South Florida and ended up expediting their timelines. While some vacation home shoppers opted for single-family homes over condos, the tower didn’t see any drop-off as its floorplans run upwards of 10K interior square feet, and include the benefits and conveniences of condo living.

What’s the investment outlook for this segment?

Not only is it a buyer’s market right now, but interest rates are historically low. It’s a great time to buy.

Will COVID cause more people to want second homes as a refuge/place to social distance, or will the economic uncertainty caused by COVID make buyers want to sit on cash instead?

Shelter-in-place has made people evaluate how and where they live. And while some have been more cautious and are taking a wait-and-see approach, real estate remains one of the safest investments.

How is the second home market different from the primary home market? What are the similarities?

The primary home market is also performing well, again due to the migration from highly dense cities. South Florida has been a popular destination for second-homes and permanent relocations, not just due to the pandemic, but over the past few years and spurred in part by the SALT tax and overall lifestyle benefits of the area.

What design elements and must-haves do homeowners want and expect?

Buyers right now are craving space, both interior and exterior, and they want either ocean views or access so even while remaining at home, they never feel cooped up.

There is a lot of demand for rent. Clients are looking for larger units and paying top dollar for it... People are taking the opportunity to get good deals. I do see luxury buyers doing all-cash deals. Downtown Miami and Edgewater is the upcoming area. It's not as dense as maybe Brickell. You can buy for less dollar per square foot in the area. I would say it's the hottest area. You are minutes away from the Design District, the airport, the beach, the arts district center, which contributes to that... Downtown Miami is vibrant and full of life."

Harvey Daniels: "Even after COVID, I will continue to use the tools I've learned and the resources I've been able to utilize and become an expert at using. There's always a silver lining... [On his sale of a full-floor One Thousand Museum residence to the Inter Miami FC and football legend] David Beckham, like any of our buyers, can buy wherever he wants. We are in the center of the cultural area of the city, it's a private and secure building. This building was really built of that celebrity status where they have complete privacy... If you look at the cycles and areas as whole, the Downtown market is in its infancy stage. I see very good things for the market in the future. A lot of that is not just because of One Thousand Museum but everything going on around it.... The interview was hosted by Haute Living's Seth Semilof. Parker began his remarks by giving praises to the medical community and first responders that have been hard at work.

On the interaction with banks, while those are working on the Small Business Administration rollouts, he said "I've spoken with a number of banks. Lenders have reached out to me. The rates being as low as they are, I feel confident we will see a strong financial market. Unlike the last recession, lenders are much more cautious about lending. The banks are in the business of providing financing, and they will get back to that."

"Think of this like any slow period," he said about advice he and his leadership team give to their agents. "In our business, it's not uncommon for an agent to have no business. It's important we focus on goals. Make a plan for when this passes. Work on your database. Distinguish new and old clients. Request reviews from clients. Make five calls, send five emails, five thank-you notes, five text messages every day. Communicate with your clients. See how they and their families are feeling. If possible, spend time with your family. Take an online course you did not have time to before. And connect with agents in other markets."

"This is going to be a time that presents a lot of pent-up demand," he said about the post-quarantine market. "We launched a project in West Palm Beach last month. Things are going to be delayed, but we are working on pre-development."

He also answered questions submitted by viewers during the live broadcast. On a question about relocations to South Florida from other major markets, submitted by One Thousand Museum developer Louis Birdman, Parker said, "We saw a surge of interest in rentals at the beginning (of quarantine times). Now, those people that were borderline retirement are saying, 'Let's do it now'. We will see more people moving from California and New York moving here full-time. I think that New York, one of the strongest and most important cities in the world, will bounce back out of this pandemic." Parker took the opportunity to congratulate Birdman on the recent purchase of a One Thousand Museum penthouse by David Beckham.

The real estate world of Miami abuzz with excitement last week as the announcement was made that David Beckham purchased a penthouse at One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects, handled by de la Vega himself. Semilof asked de la Vega on how it took place and its significance.

“It was a very exciting sale for us, and for the market,” he said. “In this very difficult time, it’s very positive. Representing developments like One Thousand Museum and David Beckham is a pleasure. The building has just come out amazing and I think it’s beyond people’s expectations. Everybody has been in awe after they walk in and see the finishes, common areas, pools and amenities. We have two other buyers looking to write up contracts.”

What are you telling your agents in today’s market on how to be successful in today’s environment?

Always think outside the box. Our virtual sales meetings, coaching, power sessions where we roll out new tools. Stay positive. I encourage our agents to learn new tools, get more knowledge, work on your CRM systems; read a new book. This is the time to take that step back and learn something new. We will look back in 30 days and say “I wish I could have read that book, or sent that note. Keep up the positivity and the learning process.

Have you been doing virtual reality tours?

Yes, we are doing a lot of virtual showings, using 3D visuals of properties; showing and closing properties on Facetime. Things are very robust. We closed $800 million in the first quarter. The 2^nd quarter may be slower, but we’re trying to average. I’m telling our agents to look for a very strong 3^rd and 4^th quarter. If you’re down 20% at the end of the year, you’ll have had a good year.

Everybody is looking for different things. We are handling things virtually, and things are happening very seamlessly. The participation from our agents has been remarkable. Melbourne, FL is a bit farther up for me to get to, so to be able to connect with our agents with technology to its highest point is very exciting.

We have invested millions of dollars in technologies that we are now using. As our agents use these tools, it gives us ROI on the investments we’ve made. We are trying to build technology that enhances real estate agents. The fundamentals of our business are relationships.

Have you noticed a lot of New Yorkers inquiring about real estate in Florida?

There’s a lot of New Yorkers renting and calling. A lot of our demand has come from New York and I expect it to continue. If you’re in Chicago or Manhattan, you want to get out and breathe fresh air. As people see that they are spending quarantine in a 1,000 square foot home and look at a property online in South Florida of 5,000 square feet, they’ll consider that. The amount of pent-up demand for real estate in South Florida will be big. And then there are the tax incentives. I think we will see a second Great Migration because of the pandemic.

Can you comment on how properties are appraising in the current market?

Prices haven’t necessarily gone down too much. New listings are down. I don’t think prices will go down drastically because we’re not in a debt crisis like in 2008. The biggest issue right now is job losses. The majority of those are furloughs. If we’re socially responsible, in 60 days those jobs will be back. Deals will be closed once again.

You are strong on social media. What do you recommend to your agents?

We have two main themes on social media: support our agents and our community. For example, one of our agents in the Fort Lauderdale office is giving food to shelters and people in need. We’re supporting her to buy meals.

If this is a recession, it will be the shortest one because we are all in this together. Working as a unit will get us through this. When we all follow this uniformity, we will get through it quicker.

A question submitted by Haute Residence member Elena Bluntzer: Are developers lowering their prices recently?

Developers have not come off their pricing, but prices have gone down the last two years. In some markets there is more supply than others. If you want something right now, you have to pay for it. I’m not seeing a drastic price reduction in real estate. The price point that gets hit the most is the $1-5 million range.

Have you seen any troubles with loan closings due to new bank processes within the past two weeks?

Yes. The capital markets, in general, have not shut down, but unless the property is solid, and income in place that has been proven in the last 45 days, it’s hard to get financing. It’s not as easy as before, primarily because banks are working on their own balance sheets. They have been working tirelessly on getting out the Small Business Administration (SBA) programs.

Will there be a new era in residential sales after COVID-19?

Yes. The adoption rate is changing the way we see real estate from all points of view. What will not change is the relationship component of our business.

Beckham Brand Limited, the partnership and licensing company owned by the soccer star and co-owner of Inter Miami CF, the newest Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise, recently purchased a full-floor residence in the 62-story residential tower. The agreement was made months ago and closed earlier today.

A spokesperson for Beckham said, “With the launch of Inter Miami CF, David and his team are spending significant amounts of time in Miami. One Thousand Museum is a very special building and we are excited to join the community there.”

The exoskeleton-shaped building by the London-based firm that adorns the Miami skyline like no other ever has officially opened in August of last year as one of the most anticipated developments in the world. It has top amenities including An indoor-outdoor 1KM wellness center with state-of-the-art equipment by Techno-Gym, yoga facilities, a Spa with relaxation pods, and private rooms for spa services. The Aquatic Center on the 61st floor features an indoor lap pool. One Thousand Museum's Sky Lounge has ample space for private events and fine dining by the building's culinary team. The building has a dedicated Curator of Hospitality to attend after residents' needs on- and offsite.

Famous faces are making regular appearances at Art Basel, museum benefits, and auctions. While personal tastes vary–these art collecting celebs have walls in their homes that would rival any gallery show.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Art Collection

Call DiCaprio "The Wolf of Wall Art." This guy is a fixture on the art auction circuit. He may try to keep a low profile with a cap pulled low over his eyes, but it's hard for him to hide once the bidding starts.

One of DiCaprio's first big art purchases was a Jean-Michel Basquiat drawing. He told the Wall Street Journal, "I’ve continued to be a huge admirer of Basquiat.”

He has also purchased work by Andy Warhol, Picasso, Takashi Murakami, Oscar Murillo, Walton Ford, Ed Ruscha, and Mark Ryden.

DiCaprio has even found ways to combine his philanthropic work with art appreciation. In 2013, he held "The 11th Hour Sale" a Christie's charity auction to benefit some of his environmental causes. During the event, DiCaprio purchased a painting by his friend Walton Ford for $250,000. At Sean Penn’s Haiti Rising Gala charity auction in Beverly Hills, DiCaprio purchased a work by Ed Ruscha for $125,000.

Last year, DiCaprio made headlines for having to surrender a $3.2 million Picasso and a $9 million Basquiat to the US government. The works were connected to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad embezzlement scandal. Because the art in question were gifts, DiCaprio was not charged with any crimes or implicated in any wrongdoing. A statement from the actor about the pieces read, "Mr. DiCaprio is grateful for the support of the government in this effort and continues to hope that justice is done in this matter."

Because of the immense value of the artwork DiCaprio deals in, he often consults advisors, like his art dealer friend David Nahmad, before making large purchases.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z's Love of Art

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have several ties to the art world. Jay performed his song “Picasso Baby” at Pace Gallery in 2013. Beyoncé hired the Ethiopian artist Awol Erizku to take her pregnancy-announcement photos, and the resulting images "broke the internet." Erizku's work is known for colorful compositions that repurpose found objects. He said in a 2015 interview, "I make things that I want to see in the world." He wasn't the only artist to be inspired by Queen B and Jay. Damien Hirst has also made two artworks inspired by the couple.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have collected art from Andy Warhol, Richard Prince, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, George Condo, Laurie Simmons, David Hammons, Richard Prince, and Ed Ruscha.

The couple regularly attends Art Basel in Miami. Beyoncé also shared some insight into her love of the artist Basquiat on her blog, "What I find in the artwork of Jean-Michel Basquiat I search for every day in music. His art is musical, his broad strokes, he is lyrical and raw."

In 2014, Jay-Z dressed up like Basquiat and Beyoncé went out as artist Frida Kahlo for Halloween. Art is a way of life for these two.

Brad Pitt's Art and Furniture

In addition to his collaboration with Frank Pollaro making art deco furniture, Pitt made a splash at Art Basel Switzerland in 2009 when he dropped $1 million on Neo Rauch’s colorful 9-foot long racetrack painting "Etappe."

Pitt has also been a long-term donor to the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art–even applying at one point to serve on their board.

Appraisers estimate Pitt's art collection to be worth $25 million. His holdings include works by Banksy, Dom Pattinson, Ed Ruscha and Richard Serra.

Since his split from Angelina Jolie, Pitt has turned his attention to art making. He spent a month at the studio of artist Thomas Houseago learning how to make sculpture.

Other Notable Celebrity Art Collectors

Madonna was a young club kid when the pop art movement and Andy Warhol's warehouse took over New York City. She dated Basquiat for a hot minute in the 1980s and now has an art collection worth $100 million. She has been friends with many successful artists during her long career.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have a Harlem townhouse filled with art. They especially like the oil painting in their living room by artist Kehinde Wiley.

David and Victoria Beckham are well-known patrons on the art circuit too.

Victoria teamed up with Sotheby's earlier this year for a curated exhibition of 16 paintings by "Old Masters." She handpicked all of the pieces displayed.

David and Victoria have filled their home with "love-themed" art from some of the hottest artists on the market. For his daughter Harper's birthday, David commissioned a piece entitled "Daddy's Girl" from Damien Hirst. Victoria purchased a neon heart by Tracy Emin that says, "I Felt You And I Knew You Loved Me." The couple has gifted each other artwork by Emin for years.

Their enviable collection also includes works by Jeff Koons, Banksy, Eddie Peake, Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol.
