So we are still functioning; definitely not business as usual, but our associations and organizations have done really good job of setting parameters and the agents really have been very understanding of the times. Interestingly sales are up 97% year over year. We had a very substantial reduction at the beginning of Covid in March 2020. Michael LaFido: "There are two different markets. The Chicago downtown market is a totally different animal than the suburbs. I was part of a $6.8 million purchased transaction in downtown about a month ago. We are seeing a lot more people leaving the city tand moving to the suburbs. The biggest estates had been sitting on the market for years in some of our more affluent suburbs. Now, if it's bigger it's better in the suburbs. The affluent upper price points are the hottest I've ever seen; it is thriving. There's a shortage of inventory. People want yards and pools. We are riding the wave. I do national training and speaking, talking to agents across the country who say that the market is hot. Chicagoland has been a buyer's market, and now it is a seller's market."

Winfrey paid $5.6 million for the sixth floor home back in 2006. Just after the purchase, she decided that she would rather stay in her duplex condominium just a few blocks from her new purchase.

In mid-2008 she listed the property for $6 million and removed it from the market in early 2009. Since then, she has been renting the property for $15,000 a month.

Since Winfrey now divides much of her time between California and Hawaii, she re-listed the home in May at a substantial loss from the purchase price-- just $2.8 million. That's half of her original purchase price.

The property went under contract a short time later.

The 4,600 square foot unit features a solarium, a library and a formal dining room. It also has a 1,241 square foot master bedroom with his and her bathrooms.

Oprah still makes her primary residence in a $50 million compound in Montecito, CA.

The Palmolive Building condo includes a theater, billiard room and a rooftop terrace. It also includes the fully restored office of Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner. The 83 year-old building, formerly known as the Playboy Building, had been the Chicago home of Playboy up until 1989.

Vaughn bought the 12,000-square-foot penthouse back in 2006 for $12 million, and it's not his only Chicago real estate holding. He has reportedly been renting out a townhouse in the Windy City's River North community.

Vaughn joins a list of celebrities that have been moving properties in the Chicago market, including Oprah Winfrey and Donald Trump.

Winfrey never really lived in the property, which was listed last week for $2.8 million. She bought it for $5.6 million back in 2006 while she stayed in another duplex condo just a few blocks away.

The Streeterville co-op features three bedrooms, three full baths and two half-baths, a library, solarium and a formal dining room. It measures just over 4,000 square feet and is one of 13 properties in the nearly 100 year-old building.

Over 2008 and 2009, Winfrey had listed the property for $6 million, which was roughly what she paid for the unit, and then tried to rent it out for $15,000 a month.

It's one of several properties owned by Winfrey. Despite having homes in the Windy City, she now spends most of her time in California and Hawaii. Her primary home is a $50 million dollar estate in Montecito, CA.
