There are few names more synonymous with Hollywood’s Golden Era than the late, great Elizabeth Taylor. A child actor turned superstar of the silver screen, Taylor’s glamorous style and flair for the dramatic came to define the national perception of the entertainment industry and “Tinseltown.” Now, for the first time in over 20 years, luxury home buyers have the opportunity to own the home she shared with her second husband, Michael Wilding.

Haute Residence Sits Down With Halsey’s Interior Designer Brianna Bitton

Ashley Frangipane, better known as Halsey, has taken the world by storm since she first came on the scene in 2012 with hits like "Bad At Love," "New Americana," "Closer" featuring The Chainsmokers and "Him & I," a collaboration with her ex-beau, famous rapper G-Eazy. The singer is unapologetically open about her life, unafraid to let the world know exactly what she is going through and how she is feeling. The singer has candidly addressed personal struggles, relationships and uses her platform to bring attention to political and social justice issues, turning her into a voice of her generation. Most recently, she gave her fans and the world an intimate first look at her new home designed by Los Angeles native Brianna Bitton of Bitton Design Group. Haute Residence caught up with the interior designer to discuss the singer's design aesthetics, favorite artists, the incorporation of Playboy covers throughout the home and more.

HR: What are Halsey’s favorite brands, designers and artists in relation to the furnishing and artwork inside the home?

BB: We had a lot of fun incorporating custom furnishings into the home to reflect her personal style, but we were definitely drawn to House of Hackney for pillows, lamps and accessories, as well as Ryan McGinley for artwork. We worked with one of our favorite local artisans, A Beautiful Mess Home, to create amazing one of kind pieces. For vintage finds, we love The Mart Collective in Venice, CA.

HR: Given the public’s access to Halsey’s private life, how did you go about creating privacy, comfort and solitude in her home?

BB: Creating a comfortable, relaxing oasis was definitely a priority for us throughout the design process. One way we accomplished this was through the greenery. We have a 10’ living wall in the entry, as well as various types of palm trees throughout the home. The greenery instantly creates a feeling of good energy, provides clean air and comfort. We also wanted the master bedroom to be cozy, yet stylish. We took a lot of inspiration from our hospitality design roots and treated it like a hotel room. The monogrammed bedding and ensuite seating area give that hospitality feel to a residential space.

HR: Can you walk me through your design process and the elements you used to incorporate Halsey’s personality throughout the home?

BB: The process begins with a collection of inspiration. Images, magazine clippings, art, fabrics, anything that just speaks out us. We then collaborate with our clients and see what they respond to. After we determine the creative direction, we get specific. Plans are drawn, furnishings are selected, all while working closely with the client to establish their unique style. We really tapped into Ashley’s past and present. Her New York roots inspired the factory windows in her bedroom, the velvet fabrics, the layered rugs and more. We then tied in her love for greenery, gained inspiration from her music videos and her love for Playboy, inspired by her recent cover, to encompass the now.

HR: Let’s touch on the room decorated with playboy covers – super cool room – is there a reason behind this specific choice of décor?

BB: Ashley was recently on the cover of Playboy. She knew from the get-go she wanted to incorporate the magazine into her home. One of her favorite art pieces that she already had was an enlarged cover from the 1960’s. The perfect place for this idea was an awkward little space adjacent to her dining room. Ashley and I came up with the idea to make it a bar, a great place to entertain, and perfectly in line with the kitchen and dining areas. We took ideas from Brooklyn neighborhood bars, 7/11 style kitsch and the mid-century influence of Playboy’s 1960’s past, to create a really special combination for this statement room, unlike anything either of us had seen. This was Ashley’s baby throughout the project and the thing we really wanted to get right. I’m really happy we nailed it!

HR: How involved was Halsey through the design process? she mentions on Instagram this is her dream home.

BB: Every client has their own level of involvement, but Ashley’s was one of the most special relationships I’ve had in my career. She has such an eye for style and design, and an undeniable sense of creativity and innovation. Working with her was incredibly collaborative and such a wonderful process. We were really able to tap into her individuality that way, it made the house the home it needed to be.

Life’s A Beach These Days For Ashton Kutcher And Mila Kunis

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis purchased the perfect beach house last year in Santa Barbara for family summer getaways.

Located only 90 miles from their main Beverly Hills mansion, this classic California coastal property is well-suited for the celebrity family of four.

The home sits right on the beach, off a private gated drive, just outside of the pedestrian-friendly town of Carpinteria. It's only a 15-minute drive north to Natalie Portman's 10-acre Montecito estate. Movie trivia buffs will realize that Portman has the rare distinction of being the only star to have kissed both Kunis (Black Swan) and Kutcher (No Strings Attached).

Kutcher and Kunis's six-bedroom, six-bath, beach house has an open kitchen with eat-in bar, high peaked ceilings in the living area, and built-in bunk beds in the kid's room.

The full walk-up porch offers plenty of space to grill out or to get some sun, while the second-floor balcony provides relaxing waterfront views. A hot tub on the front deck gives the young parents a place to get cozy once the kids have gone to bed.

The home doesn't appear to need any renovations, but if it ever does, Kunis can dust off the sledgehammer and hardhat she donned for her parent's condo renovation on an episode of the reality show My Houzz in 2017.

The mile-long Carpinteria coast is a fun beach for families with ample places for tidepool exploring and surf-fishing on the mile-long stretch of sand.

With pleasant and sunny 70-degree weather this time of year, Kutcher, Kunis, and the kids should get some good use out of their charming beach cottage this summer. Chris Palme, a broker for Coldwell Banker in Santa Barbara who specializes in the marketing and sales of residential, luxury, and view properties, says this area is, "the 'American Riviera' – an upscale community tucked between the mountains and the ocean offering an ideal Mediterranean climate."

He adds, "it is no wonder that those who can live anywhere in the world choose to spend much of their time in this idyllic environment."

Kunis, playing Jackie on That 70's Show, once said, "If I could run across the beach into my own arms, I would." Fortunately, for her and Kutcher, neither of them will have to worry about being alone on this beach.

Leonardo DiCaprio Buys Moby’s Beautifully Renovated Los Feliz Home

It must be sweet to be related to Leonardo DiCaprio. He recently purchased a home in Los Feliz for a family member that the previous owner, musician Moby, had renovated from the ground up two years ago. The 1926, 4,644-square-foot traditional home has been turned into a contemporary jewel through Moby's artistic vision.

Among Moby's improvements were sustainable wood floors throughout, complete electrical rewiring, additional built-ins in the public areas, a beautiful eat-in kitchen with add-on chef's pantry, and a secluded guest suite with a "speakeasy" hidden entrance to a full bath and steam room.

Moby also oversaw the planting of a veritable forest of trees on the lot. DiCaprio appreciated the former owner being a fellow conservationist. He reportedly paid over asking price for the home after several potential buyers put in competing bids. It finally became Dicaprio's through his trust to the tune of $4.91 million.

The home's towering vaulted ceiling adds to the living areas sense of airy openness. The view of mature pines outside of almost every window makes the house a buffered sanctuary on Red Oak Drive.

The double master suites are upstairs. One has an attached study that Moby used as a yoga studio. The other includes an extra en-suite bedroom with office study and vast closet space.

When DiCaprio comes to visit his relative, he'll most likely keep a low-profile–maybe using the lower-level guest suite that includes an assistant's office and that cool "speakeasy" hidden entrance to the spa bath. The property is also walled and gated for added security.

A lot of celebrities live in London. Famous people want privacy and beautiful residences full of amenities, but they also want access to green spaces, shopping, and great restaurants. It's no wonder that some of the areas celebrities live in London are some of the most vibrant areas the city has to offer.

These are the hot neighborhoods where celebrities live in London

Kensington and Chelsea

This area has long had a reputation for luxury and swank. It's known to hide some of the most outrageous basement bunkers complete with underground swimming pools and million dollar man caves. Townhouses here are flush with state-of-the-art fixtures and fancy roof gardens that compliment the charming Georgian architecture.

British rap sensation Stormzy keeps a flat in Chelsea near rock legend Eric Clapton, while fashion designer Paul Smith's Kensington mansion is worth $135 million. Rowan Atkinson and Madonna also bought homes here.

London has its share of millionaire boroughs, but K & C is the richest of them all. A penthouse in the Bulgari building in Knightsbridge sold for a whopping $157 million five years ago.

Notting Hill

This affluent section of West London was on everyone's radar after the 1999 romantic comedy of the same name starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant hit multiplexes.

Notting Hill seems to hold a special place in the hearts of musicians. Damon Albarn lives and supports the local businesses on Portobello Road. Richmond

Tom Hardy, a couple of Rolling Stones, Pete Townshend of British rock band, the Who, David Attenborough, Jerry Hall, actress Amanda Holden, Rick Astley, and Richard Ashcroft all live in Richmond.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also bought a $16-million home here in happier times.

Regents Park

The area around one of London's royal parks is a place many celebrities have purchased homes.

The northwest side–an area known as St. John's Wood, attracts the likes of Keith Richards, Kate Moss, Sir Paul McCartney, Ewen McGregor, Sir Richard Branson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and record-producer Mark Ronson.

Clapham

One of South London's hippest areas, Clapham has become an enclave for powerful celebrity women. J.K. Rowling, Vivienne Westwood, Margot Robbie, and Vanessa Redgrave are among the famous faces here.

Stroll through Clapham Common on a Saturday morning and you'll see people working out with wireless headphones, yoga by the bandstand, and plenty of friendly dog walkers.

Fulham

Young-money celebs are drawn to the independent boutiques, hangout spots like the Durrell Arms, fabulous brunches at Manuka Kitchen, and the chic window displays Fulham has going on.

Johnny Depp Sells Sprawling Kentucky Estate At Auction

Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp, is putting his sprawling Kentucky estate up for auction. The property, which Depp had bought in 1995 for his late mother, who passed just over a year ago, sits on 41 acres of land with the home covering 6,000 square feet.

While it’s likely Betty Sue, Depp’s mother, lived in the home, Depp also sold the property in 2001 for $1 million, only to repurchase it in 2005 for $2 million, according to The Sun.

The estate, located outside Lexington, Kentucky, features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three barns, a guest house, pool, and is only two miles from historic Keeneland Race Course.

The auction is currently planned for September 15^th and is being managed by Halfhill Auction Group.

Qatar Prime Minister Snaps Up $35M 21 Beekman Townhouse with Zampolli’s Help

Paula Del Nunzio and Paolo Zampolli recently helped the Prime Minister of Qatar during a townhouse purchase in 21 Beekman Place. The space, originally listed at $49.8M, was negotiated down to the price of $35M for Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani, his two wives and his sixteen children.

Zampolli tells Haute Real Estate Network “I was solely looking after the interest of my client and strongly negotiated the best deal possible for them. We started at $50M and we had 3 major firms appraise the property that all came in in the mid $40M range. I suggested we start the offer at $30M after considering the property to be unique for the location.”

“As a UN Ambassador, I am aware of all the residences of my colleagues and all the developed countries, and the Gulf countries already own an ambassador residence so there would have not been many buyers for a $50 mil home. After weeks of negotiation, we agreed on $35M including art and furniture. At that point, I advised my client that it was time to make it happen. The State of Qatar is an aggressive buyer in many fields but for sure there is no chance they want to be taken advantage of.”

Adrienne Maloof Puts Chateau-Style Home On the Market

Reality TV star Adrienne Maloof, known for her role on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, and her plastic surgeon husband Paul Nassif have put their French Chateau-style Beverly Hills home on the market for $26 million.

Located in the Beverly Park area on two acres of land, the mansion boasts close to 20,000 square feet, 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. In addition, the property features design by architect Richard Landry, who added luxury amenities such as a two-entry entrance foyer, a movie theater, a two-story office, a library area, two family rooms off the kitchen, a pool, a tennis court, a guest house and a guest apartment.

Celebrity news site TMZ reports that the couple have listed the property, which the two purchased in 2004 for $12.7 million, due to their upcoming divorce. The property is listed with Mauricio Umansk of Los Angeles real-estate firm The Agency.

Mark Wahlberg Continues to List Beverly Hills Mansion, Drops Price to $13 Mil

Mark Wahlberg is continuing his quest to unload his 11,000-square-foot Hollywood hideaway.

Wahlberg purchased the property back in 2001 for just under $5 million and since then has enjoyed its playground-like amenities including a putting green, lagoon pool with grotto, water slide and a full service gym with a boxing ring.

In 2008, Wahlberg and his wife listed the property with an asking price of $15.9 million, but in four years there have been no takers.

The price on the seven bedroom, 10.5 bath home has dropped now to about $13 million.

Real estate insiders speculate Walhberg and his family are planning to move to the exclusive Beverly Park community; in 2009 Wahlberg spent $8.25 million on a parcel of land there. It had yet to be developed at the time, but reportedly ground has just been broken on the property.
