Michael Scigliano, Prinicpal of MS2 Design Studio, is known for going above and beyond expectations when it comes to executing modern, yet timeless interior design that speaks to the clients' individual lifestyles and requests.

Typically, luxury interior design and attention to detail do not go hand in hand with speedy delivery, but when it came to this beautiful Fort Lauderdale home, Michael made an exception. "This was the fastest project I have completed," Michael revealed. "To consult with the client, design, order, deliver and install furniture for a custom five thousand square foot home, would normally take at least seven to nine months. This home was completely installed in three months, per the client's request."

Despite this unique scenario, Michael revealed that this was a smooth and enjoyable design process.

"The time crunch was the biggest challenge. The clients were a delight to work with. They were decisive, had amazing taste and they gave me the freedom to design the home that I thought would be perfect for them. They fell in love with the home the second we presented it to the them."

Honestly, who could blame them? According to Michael, the clients are avid boaters and their only request was to have a light, ethereal space that complemented their yachting lifestyle.

As seen in the Poggenpohl kitchen above, there is a delightful mix of eclectic materials throughout this home, which lends to a beautifully layered aspect throughout each space. "I like mixing classic materials into all of the modern spaces we design. This tends to give a timeless feel to the project. The shapes are modern but the materials are timeless."

The speed in which this project was completed is even more impressive when considering that Michael and his design team were able to install custom millwork into the home's office and master closet as well as custom furniture pieces throughout.

In the bedroom, Michael and the MS2 team used only the finest of materials. The bedding is fully-comprised of Jesurum Italian linen from E. Braun in New York. Michael noted, "The customer introduced me to the Jesurum line. He uses them on his yacht and wanted the same quality in his two Master Suites. The high thread count, soft hand and custom embroidery options are unique to this line and added an extra couture touch to this home."

While the gliding Messi holds the edge in deft passing and lifetime assists, Ronaldo has the recent champions league wins to give him a slight edge. The two players share so many records in numbers of titles and awards that, on paper, it is difficult to tell them apart.

At the start of this year's world cup in Russia, it appears Ronaldo's hot streak has continued while Messi struggled to place scoring shots. However, never count the resilient Messi and his Argentina national team, the Albicelestes, out of a close match.

While these men compete on the field, the styles of their amazingly nuevo and luxurious homes seem to be in a tight match as well.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Modern Madrid Mansion

Ronaldo is a stylish guy, so his home design reflects that. Located on the prestigious La Finca Residential Estates in Madrid, Ronaldo's house is hard to miss. His oversized front door features his initials engraved in 8-inch letters on the metal facing.

The living space is 8,600 square feet and worth £4.8million. In addition to the seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, there's a trophy room where Ronaldo keeps his four golden boots and his three UEFA Best Player in Europe trophies among many, many others.

The polished marble hallway's main centerpiece is a floor-to-ceiling black and white photograph of Ronaldo and his son, Cristiano Jr. Another part of the house contains a painting of his late father, José Dinis Aveiro. The effect places Cristiano as a centered guy for whom family is important. He knows where he came from–and where he is going.

A wood-paneled home gym has all of the equipment Ronaldo needs to stay fit off the pitch. His boys like to watch him work out. They probably imagine the day they'll be able to leg press over 1,000 pounds like their dad.

A balcony gives a view of the large pool surrounded by wood plank decking. There are plenty of places to lounge inside and out. Wicker daybeds provide comfort around the house and pool. They are large enough for the whole family–his girlfriend Georgina and their four children– to snuggle up together.

When traveling stateside, Cristiano Ronaldo can stay at his $7.2-million penthouse in New York. During training with his national team, he'll camp at his $2-million apartment in the center of Lisbon, Portugal.

Lionel Messi's Barcelona Base

Messi has lived in Barcelona most of his life. Contrary to an internet rumor, the famous footballer's house does not resemble a giant soccer ball. Instead, Messi owns a multi-level white contemporary mansion overlooking the Catalan hills, near the Mediterranean.

He bought the house for $1.8 million but has put an additional $6 million in renovations into it since 2009.

White walls and light wood floors complete the Mediterranean feel inside. Beiges and browns have been added as furniture accents. Panoramic windows and wrap around open terraces invite the dweller to take in peaceful views of the sea.

Messi built a playground next to his garden for his two toddlers, Mateo and Thiago, to enjoy. He also has two brown Mastiff dogs who like to lounge with him on the outdoor patio furniture.

In addition to the home gym, Messi also has an indoor soccer pitch at home for getting in some additional practice whenever he wants.

Messi is not only a Captain on the field–he's a boss homeowner as well. When his next-door neighbors were being too loud for his liking, Messi bought them out and now enjoys more of a buffer to his property.

Barcelona El Prat–the 7th busiest airport in Europe–is also 10 minutes from the home. According to reports, the airport has been wanting to expand and build a runway closer to Messi's neighborhood, but the plans have not been approved because fly-overs are not allowed on Messi's property.

These instances might paint a picture of Messi as a person who always gets what he wants. However, those who know him best affirm he is at heart a humble guy who loves his family and tries to help out others in need.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi Find Balance

It takes enormous talent and constant determination for Messi and Ronaldo to remain on top of the world's top footballer's rankings. As a glimpse into their home lives will show, these professionals have managed to find time to nurture relationships and grow healthy families as well.

Lisbon, Portugal

Top of everyone’s list in Lisbon, Portugal. It’s not the fact that Madonna has settled there while her son attends the famed Benfica soccer academy. It’s because since the financial crash of 2008 when Spain and Portugal teetered on the brink of collapse, Lisbon has become one of the most affordable capitals in Western Europe. Teeming with historical property, government grants to renovate and a vibrant tech start-up scene, prices rose by 4.9 percent on the year to November 2017,  according to Global Property Guide. Prices have now risen to roughly $475/per square foot.

“This latest demographic wave of international investors very much want to live in Lisbon,” Ricardo Sousa, CEO of Century 21 in Portugal told Forbes. “The French were the ones who originally used to get on the plane to spend weekends in Lisbon but now demand is becoming more and more diversified and the profile is shifting. Investors with half-a-million euros or above are looking at the city center and its historical heart, as well as the Expo area, which is very popular with Asian investors and there is a lot of land.”

Northern Europeans looking for luxury digs have also flocked, drawing comparisons with Miami in the Guardian while ringing the alarm bells of gentrification.

Côte d’Azur, France

France’s Côte d’Azur has always been known for upscale luxury. The sort of place James Bond would join an international arms dealer on his yacht. A new report by Savills shows that the hot spot on the French Riviera continues to be a prime destination for the global wealthy to park their cash. A high inventory of luxury property allows buyers room to negotiate, often with a  10 to 30 percent discount. It’s not cheap — about $2,867 to $3,440 per square foot.

“The region offers a desirable lifestyle but also the benefits of city living with high-end retail, restaurants and a full social calendar,” said Alex Balkin, head of Savills French Riviera in their 2018 report on the Mediterranean region “This makes it appealing to a new wave of young, globally-mobile high-net-worth individuals looking for high specification homes that are ready to move into.”

Algarve, Portugal

When it comes to resident expats, the Algarve has 100,000 of them. It’s affordable, sunny and surrounded by 100 miles of shimmering Atlantic coastline and striking cliff-top vistas. Oh, and did I mention it’s cheap — around $450 per square foot. Don’t expect it to stay that way.

Istanbul, Turkey

With half of Istanbul’s population under 30, this is a vibrant, growing economy at the cross-roads of Europe and Asia. House prices are cheap and cash is flooding in as older buildings are being renovated or replaced with sparkling new apartments. With real estate at around $320 per square foot, it’s a great time to ride the Istanbul property wave.

Barcelona, Spain

The Catalan crisis seems over and Barcelona house prices are once again galloping off into the sunset. According to the property price index published in early December by the Spanish Statistical Institute (INE), Catalonia prices are rising at 10 percent — the second highest rate on record for the region and close to the over inflated numbers pre-2008 crash. Expect to pay many millions of dollars to live in luxury. Driving the price hikes is tourism, with many investors buying homes to let, Airbnb-style, as short term rentals to visitors. This, in turn, is increasing house prices for locals. It’s a gorgeous city with scenic views, a world famous soccer team and prices to match.
