The iconic Hotel of South Beach, owned by Goldman Properties, has just been renamed The Tony Hotel South Beach in honor of its founder, Tony Goldman. Goldman, a well-established real estate developer, assisted in reviving some of Miami’s most famous neighborhoods including South Beach and Wynwood.

Tony’s son-in-law and acting CEO of Goldman Properties spoke out on the renaming of the property explaining, “Tony Goldman was an entrepreneur, historic preservationist, romantic, and sensitive developer, restauranteur, hotelier, and patron of the arts. Renaming the hotel that Tony restored in his honor is a fitting tribute to his legacy.”

Known for its Art deco style, the hotel attracts visitors hoping to revisit the vibrant style of South Beach from 1939, when the property was established. Although the hotel underwent renovations in 1998 under designer Todd Oldham’s supervision, it still upholds the original architecture but with stylistic flair. One of the hotel’s prominent features that received a serious redesign was the rooftop pool, complete with cabanas and an ocean view for guests to enjoy.

Located on Collins Avenue, the hotel has a unique charm and is a staple in the community. The property’s energy is reflected in their loyal staff, many of who have worked at the hotel for over 20 years. To further memorialize Tony’s contribution to the neighborhood of South Beach, Goldman Properties plans to bring back the News Café from the 90s, frequented by the late Gianni Versace. The whole project lives up to the Goldman Properties’ principle— “back to the past but also into the future.”

Tomer Fridman presents

When an estate surpasses architecture and design, it becomes a work of art. Inspired by the iconic Reina Sofia museum in Madrid & built by a world-class art collector on the finest street in Holmby Hills, a spectacular backdrop was created for a personal collection of antiquities & contemporary art. After a decade, the result is rarefied 30,000 square feet of museum-quality rooms with soaring ceilings, carefully curated materials & a flow that makes this landmark home feel both expansive and intimate. From the soaring 30-foot entry with 400-year old Moorish columns & 16th/17th century Florentine carved ceilings, to the Art Deco library, which has been called "The Finest Room in LA," this rare blending of gallery, artistic temple & personal sanctuary only becomes available once in a lifetime. A gated compound, for the most discerning, features every conceivable amenity; a 3-story guesthouse w/a stunning cinema, an entertainment complex, outdoor ballroom, & manicured grounds of over 1.1 acres.

Address: 133 S Mapleton Drive, Holmby Hills, CA 90024

Price: $65,000,000

New York is renowned for its architecturally significant buildings from the Empire State Building to the Chrysler Building and everything in between, including cathedrals and museums. With its rich history in pre and post-war, the concrete jungle is filled with one-of-a-kind gems, including a $5M Maisonette that embraces its timeless Art Deco past, while incorporating sleek, modern interiors. The unique building, which is now a luxury condominium set in Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood is the perfect example of the blending of pre-war architecture and contemporary, post-modern style. Any Art-Deco lover will love this unit, but don't take our word for it, have a look inside.

88&90 Lex, designed by acclaimed architecture firm Workshop/APD represents the union of two buildings— one an Art Deco classic, the other a sleek modern tower. The Art Deco side boasts a distinctive palette of French limestone, silver travertine and fumed grey oak floors.

However, it's the duplex Maisonette that has our attention. The 3,348 square foot duplex features an open floor plan, towering ceilings, and the hero of the show—20-foot arched casement windows— allowing for the natural light coming in from the southern and eastern exposures.

Editor's Note: Step into the kitchen with Susan Rocco of The Kitchenworks, who talks to Haute Design about reviving the kitchen of a Spanish Colonial home.

From the moment you enter this sprawling Spanish Colonial home, almost a hundred years old in age, you are transported to decades past. You are enveloped with curiosity and admiration for the essence that makes this home a bridge between the here and now and the heyday of a 1920’s South Beach. This home evokes the wonder and desire of "if walls could talk." You can’t help but conjure visions of what life might have been like with each passing decade and the lives this home has seen.

When the new homeowners undertook the kitchen remodel, their primary goal was for the new kitchen to hold the same undeniable magnetism. They approached our firm with a very specific vision of details that drew from deco and Spanish influences. The palette envisioned would complement the warmth and richness of the natural materials employed through the home as well as feel like an extension of its glamorous character and coastal proximity. Under the design direction and project management of our very own Oscar Corona, their new kitchen was everything they had hoped for and more.

The custom pattern of the cabinet door style is reminiscent of the stepped outlines in art deco architecture. The sink wall is free of wall cabinets for simplicity. The interest and detail of the cabinet doors are balanced by their colors, which steer the design into a timeless and neutral take on deco decadence. A deep shade of navy is used for the tall cabinetry and the island, adding elegance and a subtle reminder that this home is steps away from the ocean. The appliances are from Dacor’s Modernist Collection. This new collection of graphite stainless steel appliances lends itself to be seamlessly integrated into the design, both physically and visually. The commanding visual presence of the dark cabinetry and appliances is contrasted by off-white cabinetry along the perimeter. These brighten the edge of the room, enhancing the feeling of spaciousness. Above, open wood shelves in a custom finish, to match the floor, heighten the sense of lightness and openness while adding Old World charm. Undoubtedly, the focal point is the hand-painted tile that borders the island, almost like a carpet, continuing on the floor up to the cooktop and over on the hood wall. This design statement is kept to one section. All else recedes in elegant restraint to allow this gesture to become the dramatic, focal point of the kitchen.

Through meticulous execution of details and finishes, careful thought and creative design, we were able to bring to life a kitchen of simultaneous striking singularity and retro nostalgia. It is a kitchen that feels organic to the original home and becoming of the present day.

For decades glass towers have defined the New York City skyline, but thanks to an effort to cut emissions, buildings are adopting an old school design.

For decades glass towers have defined the New York City skyline. While glossy, mirrored towers loom throughout Manhattan, a trend of classic materials including brick, concrete panels and rustic metals with distinctive glass windows, are making a return. With the Green New Deal in place, aiming to cut emissions overall, in part by banning towers with glass facades, New Yorkers can expect a rise in classic building design in the future. For now, let's appreciate these seven transformative New York buildings.

Greenwich West

Courtesy Greenwich West

Greenwich West is the first tower in NYC designed by a female French architect and one of the tallest buildings in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan. At 30 stories, the condominium serves as an urban lookout, providing panoramas of the Hudson River, New York Harbor, and Statue of Liberty. Designed by Loci Anima, acclaimed Paris-based architecture firm founded by Françoise Raynaud, who spent nearly two decades working alongside legendary French architect Jean Nouvel, Greenwich West is located at 110 Charlton Street in West SoHo. Raynaud brings her Parisian influences to life in a modern setting and seamlessly blends 20th-century French design with a classic New York loft feel. Greenwich West features a handmade brick facade with custom glazed brick accents made specifically for the project by the venerable Belgium brickworks Wienerberger. The building’s Art Deco-inspired curved corners lend a softness to the tower, while industrial-style casement windows – framed by elegant hand-laid brick patterns and custom pewter-glazed brick borders – salute the neighborhood’s heritage. Receding gracefully, Greenwich West’s intricate setbacks and 290-foot height allow for sprawling terraces in many homes and hallmark river views.

The Symon

Courtesy The Symon

Located between Court Street and Boerum Place, The Symon is Brooklyn's newest full-service boutique luxury condominium, offering 59 one-to-four bedroom contemporary residences with an elevated design sensibility and acute attention to detail, as well as a thoughtfully curated amenities selection. Steeped in history, the name, The Symon, is a nod to the patriarch of the Schermerhorn family, whose aristocratic mercantile legacy dates back to the 1600s. Known for their sense of civic duty and philanthropy efforts as a patron of the arts and educational institutions of New York – particularly Columbia University – The Symon celebrates the confluence of history and culture, commerce and education. With interiors and the captivating facade designed by Studio DB, The Symon reveals modern residences inspired by historic Brooklyn, showcasing a facade with distinctive arched windows, prominent canopied entry and hand-laid brick. Taking inspiration from the celebrated heritage of Brooklyn Heights, The Symon marries rich, natural materials with classic detailing to evoke the character and distinction of the neighborhood’s treasured townhouses and grand apartments.

40 Bleecker

Courtesy Williams New York

NoHo, Manhattan's historically-landmarked neighborhood, is home to 40 Bleecker, the new 12-story ground-up luxury residential development that has interiors by AD100 Ryan Korban. With architecture by Rawlings Architects, 40 Bleecker seamlessly blends modern design with the quality and distinction of buildings constructed a century ago. The striking brick and metal façade features punched glass window openings that are an important nod to the past and a reference to the historic, landmarked buildings within the surrounding NoHo neighborhood. Undulating in a step-like fashion at the top three penthouse levels and gently curving at its corners to maximize light and views, 40 Bleecker offers a boldly contemporary exterior design well situated among the historically industrial pre-war buildings of its surroundings.

Rose Hill

Courtesy of Rockefeller Group

Developed by the original builders of Rockefeller Center and designed with a vintage Gotham-esque flair, Rose Hill is a new 45-story luxury condominium tower currently under construction at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad. With architecture and interior design by CetraRuddy, the acclaimed global architecture firm is known for successfully blending modern design with crafted detail, Rose Hill draws a direct connection back to Rockefeller Center with its heavy Art Deco influence of the 20th century. Rising over 600 feet in height, the building is eloquently clad in a bronze-tone façade, accented by intricate detailing that frames expansive glass windows. Taking its place among New York’s architectural icons and inspired by the Rockefeller Group’s landmark developments, decorative lighting will illuminate the tower’s base and crown to highlight the building’s unique articulation. The contemporary design, although rooted in the past, speaks to today's modern New Yorker.

The exterior of the building evokes a classic New York façade with precast concrete panels that mirror limestone. Designed to maximize views, large bay windows are located throughout the tower, allowing for ample daylight and stunning panoramas of the city no matter where you are in the building.

Mayfair is home to London's best clubs, galleries, hotels, restaurants, shopping, real estate & more.

Describing her favorite part of London, author and Mayfair resident, Tyne O'Connell, said, "It was here in Mayfair, that adjectives such as gracious, elegant, sophisticated and sublime trip off the tongue like coins into a parking meter."

Mayfair is "posh" London. The affluent West End London area borough has been an upper-class playground since the 18th century. Its maze-like streets and storied arcades remain a favored shopping, eating, and socializing destination for the world's elite. It's the neighborhood recognized as the most expensive property square in the British version of a Monopoly game board.

For the steep prices it demands, Mayfair has a lot to offer in culture, cuisine, sophistication, and style.

Mayfair Hotels

While historic Mayfair hotels like Claridge's and The Dorchester have pampered royal guests, for a sense of prestige, stay at The Ritz. Opened in 1906 as the first steel-framed building in London, this world-famous hotel is an unparalleled example of British refinement.

Steep in the tradition of an English afternoon tea in The Ritz' glorious Palm Court, or dine under crystal chandeliers in the Michelin-starred Ritz restaurant led by Executive Chef, John Williams MBE.

Rooms at The Ritz feature antique period furniture and five-star service. The decadent Trafalgar Suite is decorated in colors representing Admiral Nelson's victory over the combined Franco-Spanish fleet.

The glamour of The Ritz' atmosphere is ironically entwined with England's war history. Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, and Charles de Gaulle once talked World War II strategy in the elegant Marie Antoinette Suite.

Mayfair Shopping

Shepherd Market is considered to be the village center of Mayfair, but shoppers looking for the best high-end designer stores and exclusive boutiques head to Bond Street.

Armani, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, and Louis Vuitton all have storefronts on Bond. Just behind Bond Street, is the covered Burlington Arcade, running from Piccadilly to Burlington Gardens, this handsome colonnade includes Chanel and Manolo Blahnik among its desirable upmarket retailers and high-fashion boutiques.

Collectors in the market for a rare Rolex or Patek Philippe should explore Armour-Winston, Bond street's most trusted vintage watch supplier.

Mayfair Art and Culture

Two famous musicians lived on Brook Street in Mayfair. George Frederic Handel had a flat there, while Jimi Hendrix called the same place home more than 200 years later.

The Royal Academy of Arts is located in Burlington House and The Fine Art Society is one of many galleries on New Bond Street displaying both established and contemporary artists' work for savvy collectors.

Mayfair Dining

There is an abundance of fine dining options in Mayfair. The whimsical Sketch offers contemporary French and vegetarian fusion in a setting reminiscent of a Wes Anderson film.

Hours after Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, she became the first royal to eat in public at Quagliano's (called "Quags" by locals) enjoying the upmarket Euro-style brasserie that always hosts a well-heeled clientele.

For more Eastern flavors, Hakkassan and Nobu offer upscale Cantonese and Japanese fine-dining experiences.

The upscale Nobu chain has locations in Dubai, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Melbourne, and Mexico, but this Mayfair London location is a favorite of Kendall Jenner, Megan McKenna, and Matt Damon. Drake ate here after performing with Rihanna at the BRITS.

Celebrities love the low-calorie healthy Japanese food that Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is famous for.

Mayfair Member's Clubs

One feature that makes Mayfair so exclusive is its high-volume of private members' clubs. You have to be a member or get an invite to one of these opulent hangouts where celebrities and royalty sip cocktails on leather couches, enjoying the freedom found behind locked doors.

Morton's private members' club is a restaurant, lounge, and nightclub that offers a refined yet relaxed experience. The panoramic balcony provides beautiful views of Berkeley Square Gardens, while an art deco basement nightclub called 2&8 has a spacious dance floor, DJ booth and a bar, making it a perfect setting for fashion shows or deluxe parties.

Meghan Markle enjoyed a dinner recently at Little House, a private club opened by the Soho House group. This quiet house in Mayfair includes a restaurant, drawing room, and salon bar decorated with art by Taryn Simon and Jenny Holzer.

Visitors may bump into members Keira Knightley or James Corden enjoying the "subversively casual" atmosphere that is trademark here.

Mayfair Property

With the dust settling from the Brexit decision, London real estate is ramping up. Many historic Mayfair properties are enjoying a contemporary redressing these days as the resident profile trends younger.

Rap and style icon of the moment, A$AP Rocky bought a flat in Mayfair because unlike most of the places he goes, "they don't know who I am over there, they don't care about me that's why I love it."

Twenty Grosvenor Square, a Four Seasons Private Residence, will be complete this summer. The building will offer 37 private residences including 3 luxury penthouses.

This world-class development will combine the comforts of home with the 24-hour concierge, valet services, and amazing amenities that characterize the Four Seasons.

With its established Victorian wealth mingling with the recent influx of the young elite, the grand squares of Mayfair stand to remain the symbol of posh London living.

Academy Award-nominated actor Brad Pitt has joined the design world with a new collection of furniture, made in collaboration with Frank Pollaro (pictured above with Pitt).

The line, slated for unveiling November 13th through 15th, is said to feature a contemporary, Art Deco feel. The collection will include a dining table, a cocktail table, side tables, club chairs, a bathtub, and a bed with a tropical-hardwood frame.

Although it may seem a strange cross-over upon first impression, Pitt is actually a design and architecture buff. The actor recently told Architectural Digest that he has been doodling furniture ideas since the 1990s. “I’ve been doodling ideas for buildings and furniture since the early 1990s, when I first discovered [Charles Rennie] Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright,” says Pitt. “Actually, I found Wright in college, when looking for a lazy two-point credit to get out of French. It forever changed my life.”

Below, a sneak peek at some of the pieces, including the two-person tub, the bed and chairs.
