Virgil Abloh has cemented himself as one of the great minds in today's design and fashion industries by turning his craft into art without limits or borders. Now, the Artistic Director behind the iconic Louis Vuitton fashion house is venturing into the world of art and furniture with a new art installation in partnership with Vitra. The TWENTYTHIRTYFIVE exhibition will be on display at the Zaha Hadid-designed Fire Station on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, a mere four miles away from Basel, from June 12th through July 31st. In collaboration with Vitra and Art Basel, the highly-anticipated exhibition will feature an art installation and three limited-edition home design products.

The exhibition will showcase an art installation divided into two segments -- "Past/Present" and "Future." The latter focuses on the concept of how homes will function in the year 2035 and will bring to life Abloh's vision of the future. Mixing living and working spaces together, Abloh tackles the concept of furniture usage and embarks on the journey of exploring what the world of design will be like.

The three limited-edition home design products include an armchair, inspired by a 1950s Jean Prouvé design; a Petite Potence lamp with orange lacquer finishes; and a ceramic block, the most conceptual piece in the collection, forming the structural element of the TWENTYTHRITYFIVE exhibition.

For 26-year-old mixed-media artist, Robert Dugan better known as Seek One, urban culture and street art have always played an important role in shaping his identity as an artist. Dating back to his early teenage years, Dugan found himself expressing his identity, viewpoints and vision through graffiti and thus, Seek One was born. Now, as a full-time artist and entrepreneur, Dugan has found himself in full control of his brand and how he wishes to present his art to the world. Haute Residence caught up with the artist who opens up about his upcoming gallery openings in the Hamptons and Philadelphia, how he's found success in the era of social media and more.

What does Seek One mean and how did you get started with your art?

I grew up skateboarding and doing graffiti when I was younger. There is definitely a big influence with graffiti in skateboarding and that played a role in my inspiration as an artist. There’s no specific meaning behind Seek One. The name originated when I was younger as my tag. As I evolved into fine art and worked on canvas, I kept the name to keep the authenticity of where my work stems from and what influenced me to start.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your art?

Urban culture. Popular culture. It comes from a lot of different things. I’m also inspired by a lot of brands and logos. For example, if I see an old coca cola bottle, very generic but iconic at the time. That could spark a piece. It comes from all over the place.

How would you describe your art aesthetic?

From a professional standpoint, it’s considered mixed media. It’s very authentic and unique in its own way, a mix of photography and graffiti in a high fashion manner where you could hang it in a white room gallery and it will look good but still has a street vibe that appeals to millennials and attracts an older crowd.

Your art is rooted in urban culture and street art, how do you go about combining the two to create fine art?

I try to keep everything relevant based on whatever subject I’m working on. One of my earlier pieces was a Frank Sinatra painting. In order to make it my own, I incorporated vintage wall street journals I had been collecting. The use of vintage 1930s journals layered with graffiti and an iconic picture of Frank Sinatra really made the piece come together. Keeping my art relevant is important and mixing in graffiti created a whole new aesthetic for it that has become so popular these days.

"Filtered Gucci" by SeekOne Art

What are some of your favorite pieces you have created?

I’ve been working on a lot of pieces that are based around brands and products. One of my most popular paintings has been my "Filtered Gucci" painting where I incorporated a skull, a Marlboro cigarette box and the Gucci pattern. The painting is a mixture of incorporating iconic brands as well as tying in meaning to my art. For this one, the message is both that smoking kills and people are addicted to fashion. I'm currently focused on creating art that has an underlying meaning to it.

Where can art enthusiasts and collectors find your work?

I work with a lot of galleries on the east coast. I work with galleries in the Hamptons, New Jersey, Wall Street and Miami. I’m pretty spread out throughout the east coast. I also do a lot of e-commerce. I have fine art prints that are signed and limited editions but I also started an e-commerce business where I design everything digitally and print on canvas.

How has the rise of social media impacted your work and business?

A lot of people think artists sell just in galleries but social media has played a big role in generating sales and exposure for me, as well as working with different brands. There are so many different ways you can leverage your business on social media. Being a visual artist, Instagram has allowed me to showcase my work in a variety of ways because of photos and videos.

Do you have any upcoming events or projects you’re working on that you’re excited about?

I’m working on a lot of stuff right now. I’m having a gallery opening in the Hamptons on May 1st and then I’m doing a pop-up in Philadelphia in May as well. I have other shows lined up in the summer and will be doing my second show at Art Market + Design. I just got done with Art Basel in December for the second year in a row. It was definitely cool to be a part of it again and I'm looking forward to doing something again this year.

Many Hollywood stars and music industry leaders are turning art collecting into an inspiring hobby and profitable investment.

Famous faces are making regular appearances at Art Basel, museum benefits, and auctions. While personal tastes vary–these art collecting celebs have walls in their homes that would rival any gallery show.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Art Collection

Call DiCaprio "The Wolf of Wall Art." This guy is a fixture on the art auction circuit. He may try to keep a low profile with a cap pulled low over his eyes, but it's hard for him to hide once the bidding starts.

One of DiCaprio's first big art purchases was a Jean-Michel Basquiat drawing. He told the Wall Street Journal, "I’ve continued to be a huge admirer of Basquiat.”

He has also purchased work by Andy Warhol, Picasso, Takashi Murakami, Oscar Murillo, Walton Ford, Ed Ruscha, and Mark Ryden.

DiCaprio has even found ways to combine his philanthropic work with art appreciation. In 2013, he held "The 11th Hour Sale" a Christie's charity auction to benefit some of his environmental causes. During the event, DiCaprio purchased a painting by his friend Walton Ford for $250,000. At Sean Penn’s Haiti Rising Gala charity auction in Beverly Hills, DiCaprio purchased a work by Ed Ruscha for $125,000.

Last year, DiCaprio made headlines for having to surrender a $3.2 million Picasso and a $9 million Basquiat to the US government. The works were connected to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad embezzlement scandal. Because the art in question were gifts, DiCaprio was not charged with any crimes or implicated in any wrongdoing. A statement from the actor about the pieces read, "Mr. DiCaprio is grateful for the support of the government in this effort and continues to hope that justice is done in this matter."

Because of the immense value of the artwork DiCaprio deals in, he often consults advisors, like his art dealer friend David Nahmad, before making large purchases.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z's Love of Art

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have several ties to the art world. Jay performed his song “Picasso Baby” at Pace Gallery in 2013. Beyoncé hired the Ethiopian artist Awol Erizku to take her pregnancy-announcement photos, and the resulting images "broke the internet." Erizku's work is known for colorful compositions that repurpose found objects. He said in a 2015 interview, "I make things that I want to see in the world." He wasn't the only artist to be inspired by Queen B and Jay. Damien Hirst has also made two artworks inspired by the couple.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have collected art from Andy Warhol, Richard Prince, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, George Condo, Laurie Simmons, David Hammons, Richard Prince, and Ed Ruscha.

The couple regularly attends Art Basel in Miami. Beyoncé also shared some insight into her love of the artist Basquiat on her blog, "What I find in the artwork of Jean-Michel Basquiat I search for every day in music. His art is musical, his broad strokes, he is lyrical and raw."

In 2014, Jay-Z dressed up like Basquiat and Beyoncé went out as artist Frida Kahlo for Halloween. Art is a way of life for these two.

Brad Pitt's Art and Furniture

In addition to his collaboration with Frank Pollaro making art deco furniture, Pitt made a splash at Art Basel Switzerland in 2009 when he dropped $1 million on Neo Rauch’s colorful 9-foot long racetrack painting "Etappe."

Pitt has also been a long-term donor to the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art–even applying at one point to serve on their board.

Appraisers estimate Pitt's art collection to be worth $25 million. His holdings include works by Banksy, Dom Pattinson, Ed Ruscha and Richard Serra.

Since his split from Angelina Jolie, Pitt has turned his attention to art making. He spent a month at the studio of artist Thomas Houseago learning how to make sculpture.

Other Notable Celebrity Art Collectors

This painting by Fernand Legér hangs in Madonna's living room.

Madonna was a young club kid when the pop art movement and Andy Warhol's warehouse took over New York City. She dated Basquiat for a hot minute in the 1980s and now has an art collection worth $100 million. She has been friends with many successful artists during her long career.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have a Harlem townhouse filled with art. They especially like the oil painting in their living room by artist Kehinde Wiley.

David and Victoria Beckham are well-known patrons on the art circuit too.

Victoria teamed up with Sotheby's earlier this year for a curated exhibition of 16 paintings by "Old Masters." She handpicked all of the pieces displayed.

David and Victoria have filled their home with "love-themed" art from some of the hottest artists on the market. For his daughter Harper's birthday, David commissioned a piece entitled "Daddy's Girl" from Damien Hirst. Victoria purchased a neon heart by Tracy Emin that says, "I Felt You And I Knew You Loved Me." The couple has gifted each other artwork by Emin for years.

Their enviable collection also includes works by Jeff Koons, Banksy, Eddie Peake, Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol.

Art Basel and Design Miami featured plenty of unique designs within each exhibition, but one fresh trend stuck out in particular. Furry (faux or otherwise) furniture isn’t only a thing of the 70s– it’s making a comeback for interior design in 2014!

Adding fur or faux fur elements to your space provides a luxurious, plush and inviting feel. Depending on the kind of furry pattern, it can also contribute a bohemian flare to an interior as well. Check out a few examples below:
