Canadian actor and comedian Will Arnett has been busy making deals in the real estate market. In 2015, he purchased a modern structure in Beverly Hills for $2.86 million. Over the next two years, Arnett renovated the residence into a spectacular smart home of glass and steel. However, in 2020, the entertainer listed his custom Californian home on the market for $11 million. After failing to attract potential buyers, the price was reduced to $8 million for which it secured a deal. Now, Arnett has moved on to another residence although in the same area. He has recently purchased a brand-new modern farmhouse in Beverly Hills for a price of $16.4 million.

The newly completed contemporary farmhouse spans 10,300 square feet with seven bedrooms and eight baths. The gated estate opens to a 25-foot brick wall entry, bleached wood siding, white-oak vaulted beams, and wine barrel ceilings. The foyer highlights a bleached wood staircase, and the home’s interior presents a sunlit open floor plan. The spacious chef’s kitchen is fully equipped with waterfall island, adjoining seating, marble backsplash, copious storage space, and pantry with apron sink. Adjacent to the kitchen rests a built-in banquette and round table for casual dining space as well as a formal dining room with dazzling chandelier. Additionally, the lavish layout presents an entertainment area with relaxing lounge space, bar, glassed-in wine display, and home theater.

Upstairs, the extravagant master suite features a cozy fireplace, seating area, and an expansive bathroom with soaking tub and walls of marble. Six of the other bedrooms offer their own ensuite bath and walk-in closets. The floor also boasts terraces overlooking the elegant outdoor area. Stepping outside, the exterior space continues to evoke a resort like essence with a saltwater pool and spa, fire pit, and abundant space for dining and entertaining. Other luxe amenities of the home include a gym, spa, home office, and garage with car lift.

The relatively modest post and beam house nestled in the Hollywood Hills features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a gated motor court, a central fireplace, hardwood and stone flooring, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and doors (inviting lots of natural light), and custom finishes. The property’s serene, woodsy backyard hideaway and the cascading waterfall over a koi pond transform the home into a canyon oasis—a perfect secluded refuge from the fast-paced “Strip.”

Bateman, 45, and his wife Amanda Anka (daughter of “My Way” singer-songwriter Paul Anka) bought the residence in 2002 for $885,000, according to the Los Angeles Times. The property was listed by Bateman’s boyhood friend, Richard Ehrlich of Westside Estate Agency. We don’t think Bateman seeks a bigger home to contain his ego because, by all accounts, he’s considered one of Hollywood’s most down-to-earth and nicest celebrities. It’s more likely that recent successes and two growing kids demand more space.

Bateman is the younger (and now more accomplished) brother of actress Justine Bateman who starred in the hit TV series Family Ties. He is known for ascerbic, quick-witted "straight-man" characters (with deadpan glares), especially in ensemble buddy films. His résumé has elevated him to Hollywood’s comedian A-list—an honor that’s made him a go-to humorous sidekick in sleeper film hits such as Juno, Up in the Air, Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief. In 2013, he made his directorial debut for the film Bad Words.

Bateman’s breakthrough role was as Michael Bluth in the cult TV series Arrested Development (now on Netflix), which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy as well as an Emmy nomination for the same role. He’s also featured in the Mumford & Son’s music video, “Hopeless Wanderer.” Bateman’s Horrible Bosses 2 (horrible title?), recently hit theaters.

It appears Bateman is wandering elsewhere, with his humility and family in tow, after living and investing in the home for 12 years.
