On April 16th, 2014, the Brooklyn Museum celebrated art patrons Jenny Holzer, Kehinde Wiley and Ai Weiwei with an exclusive and glamorous gala event!

Guests were immediately greeted by the detailed work of 20 artists in the museum’s vaulted reception area, and they were also invited to take part in the event’s silent auction via Artsy booths. All of the auction’s proceeds went to support the Brooklyn Museum.

The Ball featured private showings of the artists’ gallery space and custom-designed interactive tables by Ellen Altfest, Oliver Clegg, Ghost of a Dream, Rico Gatson, Orly Genger, Alejandro Guzman, Nina Katchadourian, Olek, Adam Parker Smith, Iona Rozeal Brown, Carrie Schneider, Alyson Shotz, Courtney Smith, Nick Van Woert, Marianne Vitale, Heeseop Yoon and Jeremy Couillard. Post-event festivities included a dance party with rapper/producer Le1f and DJ Brenmar with an accompanying interactive dessert art installation by Flour Shop.

Innovative design firm UNStudio recently unveiled their S-shaped chairs at Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile, and everything from their slouchy lounge appearance to the beautiful color blocking has buyers scrambling for their next statement piece.

The chair was designed as part of a collection for Dutch band Artifort and its sleek design allows for comfortable/supported lounging, perching, sitting up, slouching and pivoting. The Gemini collection features asymmetric metal frames, upholstered sides.

What is your strategy for approaching projects that need to be completed in a small time frame?

Our projects typically are not fast tracked. One of the primary reasons for this is that we’re frequently creating several custom or customized pieces and/or elements for each individual project. Our objective as designers is to create an end result that resonates with our client’s vision and has longevity, in both quality and style.

On the occasion we’re working on a project with a more limited time frame, we find it’s important to approach the scope of work by working with manufacturers who have a product that’s readily available or in stock as well as workrooms and vendors who will assist us in moving quickly in fabrication, processing and installation. Maintaining strong relationships with our workrooms and vendors facilitates the process.

When you complete a design project, what are some of the things you do afterward to make sure the client is 100% happy with the final product?

Ensuring the client is happy with the final product is something that happens throughout the design process. The designer-client relationship often becomes somewhat personal, you’re in people’s private homes and working closely with them to define how the space will look and “feel." A particular sensitivity is required to really hear what they want. This encompasses more than just discussing furniture and space planning, it’s developing an awareness of the person(s) – the nuances of their lifestyle, their communication style, general interests and what’s important to them.

As our projects develop, there’s frequent communication with clients, which minimizes surprises. The client is aware of the design direction we’re taking, time frames and costs along the way. Clear communication and establishing realistic expectations throughout the process keeps things flowing.

We work closely with fabricators, making sure the details are addressed and we are present at our client’s installations, ensuring the spaces unfold according to our vision. In the event there’s a glitch with something we’ve ordered or fabricated or in the installation, it’s addressed quickly. Fortunately, due to careful planning and specifying, along with a hands-on approach with workrooms and vendors, those instances are infrequent.

We do follow up with clients after an installation as a general practice. Although, if you’re engaged throughout the process, tuned into what your client wants, have ongoing clear communication with both clients and vendors, pay attention to details and follow through on what you say you’re going to do, you generally have a good sense of your client’s satisfaction level during the project as well as when it’s complete.

What are your strategies for maintaining your relationship with that client for the future (and potentially future projects)?

The best strategy for maintaining long-term relationships with clients is to be truly engaged in their project during the design process, from beginning to end. Letting them know that you care about their project as much as they do, genuinely, and showing it through your actions, establishes trust. Keeping lines of communication open and following through on your commitments or resolving issues are just as important as being real and present, providing an inspired design that resonates with them and expressing your appreciation for their business.

Ultimately, the design process should be enjoyable. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a designer is seeing and hearing a client’s enthusiasm regarding their newly designed space. Approaching client relationships with warmth and integrity helps foster an overall positive experience for everyone involved, and many times leads to future business.

Greece is currently building a massive property portfolio totaling around $688M to offer investors at the end of 2014, including city buildings, homes, development land and more.

The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund has already completed nearly 5 billion in deals (1.8 billion euro of which was real estate). Greece is also selling ports and airports to comply with the 240-euro bailout from the IMF and Europe (it is necessary that the country raise 11 billion euros by 2016). According to Bloomberg, the Athens Stock Exchange has jumped by 175 percent since it’s record 22-year low in June of 2012.

What patterns, colors & home design features are trending in 2014? Are you seeing any design trends stem from celebrity homes? If so, which ones, and why do you think they caught on?

I have always loved peacock blues and teals, and I see this color as a real trend for 2014. I recently worked with this chic, rich, vibrant color on two different projects - one throughout an eight year old girl’s bedroom, the other on the ceiling of a Deco wood paneled den and on the walls of a skylight in a celestial mural in a downtown loft. I fell in love with this color on the Tadelakt (traditional Moroccan wall finish) walls of a home I visited in Fez, Morocco.

Coincidentally, the color is a hit in celeb homes too. Sarah Jessica Parker’s favorite color, Peacock Blue, is on her fabulous velvet sofa featured in her living room in her recent “73 Questions” video interview on Vogue.com.

Shimmery surfaces (like the one above) also continue to trend their way through 2014. Shimmer can be achieved by many types of finishes - from a high gloss paint finish or an opulent gold or silver leafing, white opalescent wall tiles to brightly colored glass mosaic wall tiles. Shimmer adds depth and glamour to any room, not to mention the added dimension of a finish that reflects and appears to change color at different times of the day and in different lighting.

What is the best way to get a sense of your client’s vision for their interior?

I always ask new clients to page through the latest design magazines and to look online at designs sites to see what speaks to them.  Many clients are unable to identify their vision or know what their taste is, and I help them flesh that out. I’m usually able to pick up on a client’s taste and passions from an existing piece in their collection, be it a painting or a rug or even a small object they’ve picked up from their travels. I once decorated an entire apartment from the exquisite colors and shapes of a client's inherited antique Kashan rug.

If you could pick 3 (belated) New Year’s design Resolutions for 2014, what would they be? Why?

In 2014, I dream of returning to Morocco, one of my favorite places for design inspiration. One of my favorite spots for color is the Marjorelle gardens in Marrakesh. The blue hue in the paint is unreal and can not be matched. It is completely one-of-a-kind. It has recently inspired the colors of an outdoor roof deck of a loft building in Union Square that I designed.

I also make sure to stop by Maison de Tissage for the most incredible fabrics in the Souk. Additionally, I always find that I am inspired by the colors of nature which informs my color choices in particular. Some of the most beautiful terra cotta colors I’ve ever seen have come from the color of the red earth in different areas of the world from the Berber Villages in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to the Canyon lands of Utah.

Name your favorite furniture and decor brands to work with. What makes them so special?

-The fabulous gourd lamps from Christopher Spitzmiller because the shapes are organic and the finishes so luxe.

-Designer’s Guild fabrics for their brilliant colors and their whimsy and fun - it’s English and it’s Bohemian but it’s still glamorous. I’ve used these fabrics for the bedrooms of 8 year olds to the boudoirs of 90 year olds. The designs are inspired, imaginative and simply magical.

-Flavor Paper - love their wild, over the top screen and digitally printed wallpapers which include some scratch and sniff fruit scents.

-Fromental custom wall coverings add incredible depth and glamour to a room with their many finishes, landscapes and motifs.

-Bergamo has the most sumptuous and exotic fabrics

-Christopher Hyland and Jim Thompson have incredible silks

-Kravet is my go-to for their incredible variety

-Zoffany has great wall coverings

What is your strategy for approaching projects that need to be completed in a small time frame?

With the wide variety of projects that come across our office and the fact that our services go beyond the design of a project, we often find ourselves putting together projects that need to be complete in a few days or even a few hours. With customer service being a paramount to any successful project, we have to ensure that despite a shortened time frame the customer still feels important and most importantly feels that they have received a service that is fitting to what they paid. Here at Lee Design, we chose different teams of staff depending on the project. Transparency and good communication within the office prevents anyone from doing the same work twice, which is super important to avoid on tight time-frames. The key, however to success in projects with shortened time-frames is by extending the normal work day. You can't expect to have success and make every client happy when you work a typical 9-5 day. There just is not enough time in the day. You need to have a motivated staff and be willing to put in the long hours with them to see the project to its conclusion.

When you complete a design project, what are some of the things you do afterward to make sure the client is 100% happy with the final product?

Client satisfaction doesn't begin when the project is complete, it starts from the initial meeting. We strive to give our clients a total experience that is beyond comparison to anything they have experienced before. In the same way of buying a bespoke vehicle, we want the client to feel like a rockstar from start to finish. Communication is key and the client feels that and understands that they can reach us at any time of day or night. With many high profile clients throughout the world, we often find ourselves having meetings at obscure hours of the morning/night simply because the client is overseas and they are busy themselves. Once the project is complete, communication never ceases. If they have any questions on how to use a product or even to catch up, our clients know they can reach out to us.

What are your strategies for maintaining your relationship with that client for the future (and potentially future projects)?

With every client, we ensure that once the project is compete they feel that they didn't only get a new space, but also a new friend. We genuinely care about our clients and do everything we can to remember important dates and send gift or even make a phone call to make sure they know we care. Being honest and passionate with our clients is the best way to maintain a relationship.

Meet with the client upon completion of the project. Do a walk through and make sure we are both happy with the final product. See if there are any changes or improvements that need to be made, and get them resolved in a timely manner.

What are your strategies for maintaining your relationship with that client for the future (and potentially future projects)?

Servicing them well during and after their project, and making our relationship more personal than business related. Becoming their friend will always benefit both parties involved and make it easier to work with them again in the future.

The top two social media outlets that I most frequently use to display a new property are Youtube and Facebook. I love that these social media tools have the ability to reach so many people on an international level. I am loving them!

With springtime now approaching, are there certain properties you expect to get more attention than others? How can sellers make their properties more marketable in the spring?

We live in a perpetual summer here in sunny Southern California, so it’s only natural that our clients are looking for some beachfront property. I currently have a gorgeous listing, the exclusive guard gated enclave of Malibu Beach in Malibu Colony, that would make the perfect place to soak up all that California sun!

Sellers can make their properties more marketable in the spring by doing some good old fashioned spring cleaning! Also, don’t forget to plant some beautiful spring flowers. They always make a home feel so much more warm and inviting.

The Hyper Speed Vertical Train Hub, created by London architects Christopher Christophi and Lucas Mazarrasa, may change transportation as we know it. The designers envision a gigantic skyscraper as a new train station, and it will allow train cars to ascend the façade vertically.

The layout is perfect for urban spaces, eliminating the need for train stations that might take up several city blocks, and individual compartments will move with the transition from horizontal rails to a vertical lift somewhat like a Ferris wheel carriage (always remaining in the upright position).

According to The Daily Mail, “The project will become a ‘repeatable’ piece of infrastructure that can be implemented to support any city around the world, connecting to a new Hyper Speed under and over ground network, with trains covering an average distance of 300miles in 30 minutes.”

Anjelica Huston’s Venice, CA property sat on the market for over three years, which is not particularly surprising due to its lack of any warmth whatsoever. It (finally) seems the right buyer with a flare for cold, modern design found the place, eventually shelling out $11.1M.

The home features three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, industrial staircases, super high ceilings and a gigantic marble bathtub. Reportedly, the buyer will rent the space to Whisper, a startup moving headquarters in Santa Monica.

Budge, when you first started at Coldwell Banker in 1998 as a branch manager in Florida, did you foresee your future role as President and CEO? What advice would you have for someone looking to rise in his or her industry? 

My best advice to anyone is the saying, “grow where you are planted.” If someone is with the right organization and makes a complete commitment to perform in his or her current position and add the most value possible, they need not focus on where they’ll be in five or ten years. Recognition will come naturally with time and, with it, opportunities that are limited only by one’s capabilities and desire.

We see you’re routinely recognized by Inman News as one of the most influential people in real estate. How do you think you have earned this title?

I would suggest it’s less of a personal statement and more related to my leadership position within an incredibly successful and trusted real estate brand. While my role may be based on over thirty years of demonstrated performance in real estate, the real influence lies in the 84,000 professionals with whom I’m proud to be associated. Perhaps it’s also recognition that the real estate business, by its very nature, is about influencing positive behaviors and creating a path to something better rather than issuing executive orders.

What key components of Coldwell Banker make the brand so successful, especially in the luxury market?

As with any brand regardless of industry, ultimately success is only possible by earning the consumer’s confidence and trust over many years of exceeding expectations and delivering upon commitments. For Coldwell Banker, the primary point of our differentiation from others is a focus on the quality standards of our network and a passion for innovation which continues even after 107 years. The concept of trust and the power of branding is even more evident in the luxury sector, where consumers have unlimited choices and an ever increasing definition of exceptional service. What growing trends are you seeing in the luxury real estate market in 2013 and 2014?

While there are many, perhaps two are the most visible from my view. First is the removal of geographic barriers with the internationalization of luxury sales, evidenced by increasing mobility among affluent buyers pursuing both investment and destination properties around the world. Second would be the decreasing age of the luxury customer, many of whom are far more focused on family than formality, on livable designs rather than scale, and proximity to activities and others rather than being cloistered away from the rest of the world.

What are your short term and long-term goals for Coldwell Banker?

Far too many to state in the limits of an article, though suffice it to say that my aim is to always ensure that, even after 107 years, Coldwell Banker’s brightest days are ahead rather than behind and that every person who is affiliated with our company heads to work each day with enormous pride on their role in improving lives through real estate. All else is just strategy to that end. As I said earlier, one of our key focuses that interests the affluent buyer and sellers is the increased interest in the U.S. from foreign buyers. It has been inspiring to see the increase in referrals and traffic from overseas. While much of the media focus has been on Asian buyers, we actually have healthy and routine dialogue between our top Previews property specialists in the U.S. with their colleagues in France, South America, the Caribbean, India and other affluent regions. We also continue to explore the importance lifestyle plays in home purchases and are investigating how such predictive modeling might influence our marketing efforts in the future.

Shigeru Ban challenges our attachment to permanent architecture with temporary housing masterpieces crafted from even more transient materials, and this year the architect scored one of the highest honors in the field.

Ban is known for his humanitarian work through art, designing shelters after community-crippling natural disasters in areas like India, China, Rwanda, Turkey and more. The Prizker Prize jury commented, ““His buildings provide shelter, community centers and spiritual places for those who have suffered tremendous loss and destruction. When tragedy strikes, he is often there from the beginning.”

Ban responded humbly to news of the award, noting “I’m trying to understand the meaning of this encouragement It’s not the award for the achievement. I have not made a great achievement.

Famed designs by Ban include Naked House in Japan featuring clear corrugated plastic, a footbridge in the south of France made partly of cardboard tubes and recycled paper, and a rebuilt sanctuary after the destruction of Christchurch Cathedral in New Zealand.

The Pritzker Architecture Prize honors a living architect/s whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision, and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.

The season is irrelevant for property market in Dubai area.  Investors should keep in mind the fact that Dubai not only recovered from the market crash in only 3 years time but has seen an increase in prices of 52% for the period of 2012 - 2014.

Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg…) recently teamed up with rental site Airbnb to create cool pop-up housing during Austin, Texas’ SXSW festival last month. Snoop designed one of the three kitHAUS structures on-site, and the design features two small rooms with a terrace.

Other kitHAUS designs included pop-ups by Capital Cities and Allen Stone, and each created spaces that conveyed a sense of each artist’s personal style.

What patterns, colors and home design features are trending in 2014?

With patterns, it's all about adding interest. By using all different patterns, we can make a full space come alive. We especially love ethnic prints – they bring a sense of being somewhere exotic! IKAT is also making a big comeback, and the colors of the Deco era are back (muted hues of all colors that appear filtered through sunlight and smoke like rose quartz, amethyst, topaz, olive, whiskey and raisin). Brass is also back as a decorative metal accent.

What are your favorite ways to implement them in your own design process?

Pattern and color can change the way a space looks and feels. Adding fun pattern pillows or a vase will change and refresh the look of your sofa and that empty-looking console table instantly!

Are you seeing any design trends stem from celebrity homes? If so, which ones, and why do you think they caught on?

A new trend we're seeing in celebrity homes are oversized chandeliers. Oversized chandeliers in celebrity homes create a dramatic statement in the room and allow the chandelier to become a work of art. If you want something to be memorable, make it big!

What is the best way to get a sense of your client’s vision for their interior?

Knowing your client's dislikes is a great way to get a vision for their interiors. When you know what they don't like, it will make it a lot easier for you to create a design that will best fit the client's vision.

Heartthrob Mad Men star Jon Hamm has already won over the vast majority of womankind with his stellar acting skills (not to mention his good looks), and now he’s impressing the rest of NYC’s population with this contemporary pad on East 73^rd Street and Park Ave.

Dean Martin Sang Here (above)

When preparing his Las Vegas shows, Dean Martin worked with composer John Lucas at the piano in the living room of this house with its stunning view of Hollywood and Sunset Strip below.  It had to inspire them both while looking down on the town that held their hopes, dreams and success.  Built in 1957 and now for sale, this 5,376-square-foot home with the staggering view is at the end of a private cul de sac.  It features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a master suite with private terrace and spa, chef’s kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, granite, 148-bottle wine cooler, indoor BBQ and a large island with prep station.  Rooms have 14-foot glass walls with 270-degree views from downtown to the Pacific Ocean.  There are two fireplaces, a step-down living area with custom built-ins, flat screen TV and bar, the lower level has a swimming pool with waterfall overlooking the view, a fitness center, 6-person steam room and 8-person sauna.  There is a high-tech audio-video system, electric blinds and automated Lutron light system and a one-bedroom, one-bath guest apartment with kitchen and separate entry.

New York Artist's Penthouse

Sculptor Karl Theodore Francis Bitter was born in Vienna, Austria in 1867, and emigrated to the United States in the late 1800s.  As soon as he arrived in New York City, he applied for citizenship and went to work for a firm of house decorators.  At age 21, he competed for the design of the east doors and tympanum of New York’s Trinity Church and won.  This was the beginning of his short but famous career.  Before he was struck down and killed by a car while leaving the Metropolitan Opera in New York City at the age of 48, he had already won many notable awards from his projects in major cities throughout the East and Midwest.  Commissions carried him as far south as the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, where he executed numerous sculptures in and on the house such as the statues of St. Louis and Joan of Arc.

The last home of Bitter, his wife and three children, was built in 1901.  It was the visionary custom-designed penthouse in The Studio Building, by developer Walter Russell Bond.  The Grand Hall (Bitter’s former studio) has a ceiling over 22 feet in height and hand-painted by the famous Spaniard artist Ramon Canet.  Its floor-to-ceiling window wall was installed in 2010 and the eight-foot stone wood-burning fireplace was imported from the Iberian Peninsula.  With the room measuring 45-feet long, the current owners have been able to easily entertain as many as 350 guests at one function.  The home is 4,187 square feet with a reception hall, three bedrooms and three baths, a den, an original wood paneled dining room with Gothic windows, wine cellar and staff accommodations.  Views overlook the Museum of Natural History, Central Park and Manhattan.  The full-service cooperative building amenities include a full-time doorman, private storage, playroom and central laundry room.

Architects designed a double height studio 45-feet long for sculptor Karl Bitter.

Play Ball - Pete Rose Home

With the opening day of baseball season starting on March 30th, this will be a big year in Cooperstown with Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas, Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa and Joe Torre entering the Baseball Hall of Fame. One person who won’t be inducted this year is Pete Rose. It’s now been a 24-year, ongoing brouhaha over Pete Rose’s gambling on the Cincinnati Reds games while he was the team’s manager.  Despite considerable support from current baseball hall of famers, players and fans, Major League Baseball’s all time hits leader, 17-time all star, MVP and one of its most exciting players ever is still banned from the Hall of Fame.

Now a resident of Las Vegas, the home that Pete Rose bought in 1999 in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles is on the market.  Sited on a quarter acre lot, the home consists of 4,719 square feet with six bedrooms and five baths.  Also included are family room, formal dining, study-office, 3-car garage and gourmet kosher eat-in kitchen.  The master bedroom has a large balcony overlooking the backyard pool and spa and the covered rear patio has an outdoor kitchen and bar for entertaining.

Sherman Oaks home of baseball star Pete Rose is for sale, listed at $2.15 million.

Elvis Presley 1960's Beverly Hills Home

The days of Elvis slouched on a well-worn overstuffed sofa with a plate stacked high with banana sandwiches on his lap are long over for this house that he and Priscilla bought for $400,000 when they were first married in 1967.  Located in Trousdale Estates with spectacular views over Los Angeles, fans have been coming for years to write messages to Elvis on the garden gate door set into the front wall.  But when Hard Rock Cafe co-founder Peter Morton bought it in early 2013, the rumor was that he would tear it down and build a Beverly Hills super mansion.  By November, Burger King made him an offer of $3.69 million.  Fitting that at the time, Burger King was about to launch their Big King burger and in the offer to Morton, said they would preserve the house as was.  Since Morton paid $9.8 million, it was no surprise that he didn’t accept.

During this time the idea that the house might be torn down brought the preservationists and Elvis fans out of the woodwork to launch steady protests.  Finally giving up under pressure, Morton held back and just “gave the place a cosmetic makeover both inside and out,” according to “The Real Estalker,” with the intention of renting it for $45,000 a month.  But on closer inspection of the before and after photographs, it appears that he just stripped out some of the most charming elements of the house and landscaping, including the focal point spectacular tree arching over the pool-terrace area that was the center point of the view over the city.  Morton just sold the property for $14.5 million, realizing a profit of $4.7 million in just one year. No word on what the new corporate buyer will do with the house.

Morton purchased the home for $9.8 million, paying $3.2 million under the asking price. Elvis & Priscilla bought the Trousdale Estates house in 1967 for $400,000.  Just flipped to an unnamed corporation for $14.5 million.

Historic Amelia Island Auction

Now going to auction is one of the island’s most fascinating historical homes, Mount Hope Plantation.  John Daniel Vaughan, a lieutenant in the American Revolutionary War, designed and built the home with his wife, Rhoda, in 1797.  After John’s death in 1860, the home remained in the hands of his heirs until 1941.  That year a family from Jacksonville purchased the property and owned it until 1996.  The third and present owners then bought the home and in 2005, relocated it to its present site at the edge of the Intracoastal Waterway.  After the move, the house was completely restored and updated.

Now on 1.24 acres with 200 linear feet of frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway, the home has 5,400 square feet of interior living space.  Features of the main house include three bedrooms, three baths, gourmet kitchen and a climate-controlled wine cellar with a 1,200-bottle capacity.  The separate guest house has one loft bedroom, one bath and kitchenette.  Entry is through a keypad entry gate and driveway, paths and oversized patio and barbecue area are paved with brick pavers.  Beautiful views of the marsh and Intracoastal can be enjoyed by owners and their guests.

What patterns, colors and home design features are trending in 2014? What are your favorite ways to implement them in your own design process?

I’ve been seeing some exciting design trends (some new and some making a comeback) in 2014. Here are just a handful of my favorites and how I’m looking forward to incorporating them into projects:

·         Smarter homes. As technology continues to evolve it impacts not just how, but the places where we live. Particularly for homeowners who are always on the go and glued to their mobile devices, installing this technology can be a worthwhile investment. Today’s home automation systems are smaller, blend in with the home and can control everything from lighting and locks to appliances. I’d recommend starting small with one room like the kitchen or living room (which are well-used) and adding a system for something as simple as a light switch.

·         Wood's the word. This year is all about getting back to basics with natural beauty and materials. Wood is making a comeback everywhere from countertops and flooring to room furnishings. Muted caramel and honey tones are sprouting up in projects, and I’m enjoying playing off them with lighter, brighter accent colors.

·         Floral is fun again. This year’s Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the color's floral friends are also getting in on the action. Floral designs and textiles are blossoming in the interior design world everywhere from curtains and pillows to rugs and artwork. I find planting just a few floral accents prevent a space from becoming overwhelming and make it easy to change out pieces for next year’s it-print.

Are you seeing any design trends stem from celebrity homes?

As celebrities’ lives become increasingly public, we are given a front row seat not just to their livelihoods but their living rooms. This makes it easy to emulate the layout of a bedroom or to hunt down a version of a rug you’ve been lusting over from Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

But designers to the stars are like all designers; they work to make sure that a client’s space reflects who they are. Though I’m sure that there are brand designers replicating celebrity pieces, I find that celebrities are really, just like us. They look to expert designers for advice and to bring a taste of who they are into the space. The biggest design trends I see that stem from celebrity homes is that we’re all looking to do the same.

What is the best way to get a sense of your client’s vision for their project?

My design approach is to truly make the client a part of the process – from conception to completion. I spend a great deal of time with them up front to get a sense of who they are, their history, likes and dislikes and even hobbies to make sure that a space reflects all aspects of their personality. This way, I often find very useful and pertinent information that I am then able to bring into the design, which the client might not even have thought about sharing.

One wealthy bitcoin enthusiast just paid about 800 bitcoins (around $500,000) for a two-bedroom villa in Bali.  Located in award-winning delMango Villa Estate in Seminyak, the listing was purchased through BitPremier, a luxury bitcoin marketplace.

Though the buyer remains anonymous, we do know that he/she was early to adopt bitcoin as a currency. For those interested in similarly over-the-top properties, it seems that this one isn’t the only listing available on BitPremier.
